the 090G is a 105cc saw, basically the same as an 070 but in addition it has the gearing system to improve its torque to be close to the actual 137cc (not 120cc) of the 090. so less fuel consumption for the same amount of torque.

@@em4703 torque is never irrelevant for a saw, doesn’t matter if you have a 20 or 80inch bar on it. If you lean on it to push it to the max, torque is what it keeps going. And you can push an 090g much harder than the 070 while they have the came cc.

You should try the McCullough 125 as they were made for higher rpms the 090 is a torque monster and are good for felling big trees but are slower and not really suitable for the smaller trees of today. The 090 makes a good milling saw as it has a manual oiler and can run an 8 foot bar :)

The 090 makes a good miller if the cuts are wide. I haven’t tried a McCullough 125, maybe it would be a little faster. Or I know there are several versions of the O90 and some of them don’t have the gear reduction which might actually be helpful here.

I have a Stihl 076. It has the same horsepower as the Stihl 661 but holds more fuel and apparently has a lot more torque? How does torque affect the saw? It it just how it's able to pull through a very large log without the chain stalling? Or is that horsepower. I feel like I know but then I could be entirely wrong. I know the 090 has 0.1 hp less thant the 881 but has waay more torque. Does that mean it can cut much larger logs?
