Thank you Buckin! I know I appreciate your demonstrations of the relationship between the raker, the tooth, the power of the saw and the length of the bar. I love my Still 461 with a 32 inch bar. But being 6ft 4in tall, I really like my 36inch bar for buckin firewood. Having the right tooth profile and raker height has allowed that to happen without loss of power. Just cant be to hungry!!!

Hey Buckin, you know what would be interesting.. put the 572 chain on the 500, get a time in that log, knock the rakers down to .025, then time it, .035, .045 so on and so on, and see where the rakers are maximized to that higher tq saw. Heck do the same with the 572 and show how different saws need different combinations. Excellent video my friend!

They’re both great saws I’m sure. I’ve a ported 572, so I will be bias. But I just can’t help but think the Husky sounds sweeter, smoother, and responds to throttle beautifully, it’s crisp! I still think the 500i has a barp in the high rev range and appears to be less efficient in its combustion just looking at the amount of the exhaust smoke. But hats off to the 572, that thing gives nothing up to the 80cc EFI saw in that wood. Great vid, Buckin’, thanks again!

That could be ignition cut off by the fuel injection and the smartness of the 500i. I agree though and I’m a husky fan but like both.

Nah the huskies don’t have good reaction time when pulling the throttle. Maybe the newer ones now do but my uncle has got some older ones and they’re slow to throttle up when pulling the trigger. Our stihls have a much better reaction, almost instantaneous. Easier to take apart and put together too.

@@rogerpowers3891old saws are simple to pull apart, and hanging and or lazy revs is generally a problem with a tune or the saw in my book. Feel free to like what you do but just be honest, you liked a newer saw than an older worn out one, no matter what brand that wouldn’t exactly be surprising. Try more things, you may happily surprise yourself.

I can tell this man is an educated man in real world. I don't know if it's self taught or whatever. Doesn't matter. We need more men like this in America and the whole world and we'd have that country back where you could leave your doors unlocked at night and not worry. This dude's the real deal and i think it's awesome that he cares about humans in general enough to take his personal time to show all smart enough to listen and watch tons of useful real life survival outdoor ways that we all might need one day or can use anytime anyways. Thank you very much Buckin! Excellent Video! Exactly what you said at the end. I love both saws. I have more Stihl for sure. But I absolutely love Husqvarna. It’s a different division but I’ve owned husqvarna dirt bikes and motorcycles. They are actually the oldest continuously running motorcycle in the world. In my experience with both saws. Like you said at the end. I like Husqvarna for higher rpm, but they usually feel like they have slightly less torque. Stihls have a lower rpm than Husqvarna but feel like they have slightly more torque. But the cutting speed is slightly slower from the obvious lower rpm. Many days running both. Thank you again Buckin!🤙

Both are super great saws and i would love anyone of them, but if possible i would rather take the Husky. Dealer is closer to my home and the Husky is about 330€ cheaper than Stihl. So its a no brainer for me.

Very interesting comparison. Power without Sharpness is wasted energy. I'm a shop woodworker so Chainsaws are an ancillary rather than primary tool. But it behoves every timber tool user to study the cutting edge closely. Far to many end user's avoid and resent sharpening when they should embrace it. It will save them many hours of heartache and frustration. I remember watching one apprentice pack a tizzy over the Sharpening bench. The foreman looked at me and predicted he wouldn't make the cut. He didn't.

Great video! I have a stock 500i and still getting use to a saw of that size. At what point would you send it off for tuning if you were in my situation?

No need to tune it! It’s fuel injected so it tunes itself. You could get it ported and it’ll pick up a lot of power. It’s a powerful saw anyway so you’re probably good for 15 years.

Nothing against Husky BUT I’ve always ran STIHL. I run a 661 & 500i both ported WCS BARK BOXES & 70-1 98 Octane jungle juice. They eat like crazy 661 36 bar 500i 32. GOD BLESS BUCKIN & EVERYONE 🙏👍✌️🙂

I’ve messed around with this a few times and wrecked a few chains by just taking a little too much raker off, thinking it would cut faster and boy is it super chattery and I couldn’t even keep it on the saw. Then I had a chain that I never filed the rakers and it was the smoothest cutting chain and it actually was faster cutting because you could keep the RPM’s up.

Billy ray I was talking with a friend who owns a saw shop. The conversation was how long should I expect a saw to last. Instantly I said 20-25 years. I buy commercial quality products for the professional. He said stihl and Husqvarna surveyed their customers and the average result from them was an expected life of 5 years. I think that is just wrong, I want a saw to run and be able to buy parts if needed, for 20 years. The money there asking for most Saws is significant. What's your opinion on how long a saw should last. My old stihl saws still working are 20 to 40 years old. Granted, with the old saws, I can't get parts for them if they break. The saws become wall art. I don't want this newer plastic junk.
