Best comparison I’ve ever seen on these saws!

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzread.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

Excellent comparison. I have been waiting for this exact comparison. I have the 461 and can't wait for the 462's to come out in Oregon so I can buy one. I am hoping that the new 462 will be just as fast as the Husqvarna 562xp's. Thanks again for the comparison.

What about the 572 husky it should be a good saw also.i tried to get dealer to order me on but he said he wanted to sell his 372 huskys,first he had 3 462 stihls.

Great comparison,but I’m thinking the difference was in the new chains,one was better than the other,new chains are not known to be uniform or in optimal cutting condition.I own both of these saws and the 462 has never outperformed my 461.The difference in weight does make the 462 a better choice for me if I was too only have one saw.I will run 2 tanks through one saw then switch to the other just to give it a rest,may not need it but heat is what kills these saws,I also have a 400 and 661 to put in rotation but the 661 is only used on wood over 32” when bucking.In my opinion you should always put at least one stroke on the rakers and several strokes on the cutters on a new chain it will make it a better cutter.

I just bought a 462 and loved it on first cut then the bar got hot. Haft to take it to shop to see what is up it’s brand new

You can't on a regular 462

462 has the weight if an 044 and the power of the 461...Question for me is which saw is more bullet proof? Will the 462 be able to take the use/abuse that a 461 can?

Redbull661 I run a 462 c 5 days a week in MO and it’s as tuff as my 461 and more productive since it’s lighter. Fine saw. Feel like your carrying a 562xp with the power of a 461.

Hey Gentlemen! I am looking around for detailed comparisons between these two saws. Not so much in terms of"speed", but mostly reliability, and also, durability. As someone who appreciates things that are simpler, I am leery of the 462 "C-M" aspect. Having said that, if there is a bad reputation on the 461, I'd love to hear some specifics.... Any feedback would be appreciated, Thanks! (I've owned tons of bigger, and older saws, but never anything with these new electronics, which is why I'm asking....but I vaguely remember hearing rumors among colleagues that the 461 was problematic in some way (?)....or perhaps I heard wrong...)

Did both saws have the same amount of break in?

462 had 2 cuts on it. 461 has some time on it...not much I'd guess 8-10 tanks.

Be nice to see the 462 again with a 28-32 buried, an same amount of tanks(broken in)on it as the 461 both stock an an done again going for torque of the stockers winner gets best available 46 series stihl

very early versions on 261 241 362 661 had some growing pains. 462 has the latest stuff. nothing to worry about if getting 462.

I'm in the same boat. I think I'm gonna go with the 461. Maybe get a 462 sometime down the road after it's been in the US for a bit longer. The 461 has proven reliability and durability.

@@ryanh.2049 yeah, I did end up getting the 461 Wow!! Amazing saw, plus bought a tachometer... so I have no worries whatsoever no matter where I am, I can adjust accordingly.... with the mtronix that computer, wires etc. Go down, your down... back to the saw. WOW! WOW! WOW, should have gotten one along time ago, there is nothing I can't cut now... 😊

@tlpoutdoorsman. That's awesome! I'm set on the 461 for sure now. The tach seems like a good idea. I'm not afraid of technology, everybody's got a smartphone. I just would like to see the m-tronic get a bit more reliable. An option to hook it up to a computer at home would make sense to me. Looking forward to a step up from my 311. (Very good saw btw) Thanks for swaying my decision!

OMG! I SAW A STOPWATCH!!! Thank you Finally!!! YOU may be the first to use a stopwatch in a speed test head to head, now I dont have to do the counting. I'm glaad you raised your stopwatch hand into view of the camera because I was in the middle of typing out a comment askign why in every comparison video I have seen no one ever times it. They go through the truoble to get the saws together, and film it, and upload it, and even title it indicating its a speed test, but nobody ever knows who won.... even though they are so close in real world use you'll hardly notice, 2 seconds out of 42 is like a %5, measurable but IRL its not going to make a difference in your work day

@@timtorkelson7201 yes it will, thats why I run a 261, 361, and a 461....I use the smallest saw I can get away with for as long as a I can, the big saw makes an appearance when needed

I will trade you a brand new wrap handle bar off my 462c for that half wrap

No M-Tronic saw is gonna be as reliable nor good to me as a good ol carb saw. I have a 362 and ive had nothing but issues with it. I love STIHL but will never buy nor support the computer controlled Mtronic shit they put out.
