You did not mention the thing that made them really unusual and desirable which was that you could get several attachments including post hole digger and brush cutter and post drill/bore. They were Stihls first attempt at a Kombi tool and decades ahead of their time. In fact it is the attachments that are the most collectable

I live in Washington state and bought my 08 in Florida I love my saw!!!

Hey ! Thank you for demo9 and talk about the saw. I have one of those...and eager to come to the house where it is... I ordered a new ignition plate with electronic coil. Needed to replace it...and hopefully...Than...it will run.... Not scorned i mean. The very good thing about those germans...is that there is afordable and abundance of parts to get ....still...or should I say Stihl ha ha. Now I feel much better about my saw...as you bragged enormous about it ! I loved it at first sight...and now I know my hunch or feeling probably was right he he. I also have one not tophandeled and...not sure if it is 08 or 10. Actually have two of those...hmm but one of them unfortunatly has leak in the gasket for gasoline tank. Need a bigger screw job... but now i know...it is worth it. Thx.
