The Glassworks Park was established for the first time during the communist period, serving as a place of relaxation and rest for the workers of the "Sticerom" Glass Factory.
This is where its name comes from.
The area was a former sand quarry. Over time, however, excavations reached the water table, which led to the appearance of the lake within the park.

Thus, the excavations were stopped, and the site remained deserted for 30 years.
Untended, the park quickly became an illegal dumping ground, and homeless people often congregated here.
Although human negligence has reigned for a long time, nature has easily taken its properties. Over the years, a real ecosystem has formed here populated with dozens of species of birds, plants or small mammals.
With funds of 3.4 million lei, more than 1,600 tons of garbage were removed from the Glassworks Park, using small machines, so as not to disturb the flora and fauna of the place.
The lake was cleaned 5 times before the park opened to visitors on October 22, 2021.
In addition, more than 1900 dwarf and decorative shrubs were planted.
