Stick Control Page 1 Exercise 6 Play-Along lesson with Heather Thomas

Музыка

Do you get to exercise #6 on page 1 of stick control and suddenly get thrown for a loop? You're not alone! Many of us have made it through the singles, doubles, even paradiddles, but have not yet encountered the inverted paradiddle.
This video slows down the pattern in the hopes of getting us to program that beat without worrying about the rest of the page, and without trying to do it too fast (at least at first!).
New patterns take some real time and repetition to become muscle memory, so join me as we program this new sticking combination in a relaxed and easy setting.
I'll also take you through some faster versions of the pattern, but don't worry, you can always slow down the video or keep going back to the original tempo!

Heather is back ✌😁✌ Also you have great timing, not only on the drums but with this video 😅 Two days ago I finally bought a copy of stick control after playing along to your stick control video on Drumeo for two years now. Thank you so much 🖤

I only ever manage 20 minutes. It becomes hypnotic and then wanna get funky! My brain goes. Before my hands.

I feel like I’m stuck on medium speed. I play your KZread full warm up on drumeo at 1.5 speed but can’t seem to break through it like the speed you’re showing in this video

"Eventually we will play them faster" Ok. Cool. But at my age there are physical limits that are involved. I am not in my teens anymore. Neither am in in my 20's when i should have stuck with it. No, i am in my middle 50's and i started drumming at 52. I can do the normal paradiddle at 16th note pace nearing 100 BPS. At 110 bpm it starts goign out the window and i am no longer in time. But i am seeing kids do twice that, 200 bps, i am thinking no way. This i will never be able to achieve. At least not in my lifetime as far as what is left of it. At least i learned what an inverted paraddile is now so i am taking something away from this. I do do your 30 min playing in the pocket and that is fun. Something weird happens in the middle of that 30 min and everything starts to line up timewise. Too bad it takes me 15 min to get there.
