Check out the book "Blind Faith", it's her memoir of her abusive relationship! She was really pretty, too!

I heard a music critic once call this song “pure attack.” I love it so much. And I love Stevie Wonder. He’s one of the greatest artists who ever lived. That bass gives me goosebumps.

I wasn't born in little rock, born in Detroit. Didn't have a childhood sweetheart but i had Stevie Wonder. I close my eyes and listen to this song and just cry at what Detroit was. Such a great place to grow up in the 60's, 70's-80's. What painful great memories

Not sure we can say the best bassist ever; there are extremely good bass players around yet that can be discovered on YT but surely JJ contributed strongly to a special Tamla Motown unique sound. Anyway I am extremely proud to have promoted Stevie in concert.

OMG! This extended version is off the hook and my daughter said the bass line is vicious! Thank you James Jamerson! The musicians are absolutely incredible and the background vocalists sing like angels! I was a kid when this song was out but my parents would play this to death around the house and at all their house parties! I don't recall hearing the original until a couple of days ago. Then I found this. It really blessed me. It's a beautiful song. I believe this is the way God intended the husband to love His wife.
Born and raised in Detroit was a young man going up in Detroit during the 60s actually a little boy you had to be there when I hear this song it brings tears to my eyes didn't know how beautiful Detroit was in those days

I discovered bass guitar when I first heard this song as a kid in '67. James Jamerson was incredible.
This extended version is a great way to introduce people to the powers of production and layering, perfected by Motown.

The Funk Brothers ! Damn ! Those legendary guitar riffs and bass - still gives me butterflies every time! And Stevie Wonder’s vocals. The song is truly one of the most heartfelt and emotionally emphatic records ever produced! Remind me of the innocence of my childhood in the days before the harsh realities of life interrupted. 🤔

This brother is a bass player from another planet. His sinkapation is one of a kind.
The first time seeing Stevie singing this on Ed Sullivan, you knew he was really something special. He never disappoints. He's an American treasure.
I never get tired of listening to these stretched out versions of these classic motown songs . Really lets you hear how awesome the funk brothers were . They have to be the tightest band to ever walk the earth . No doubt.
James killing that bass line, Stevie hit'em with that Hop. Combination of two made a HIT.
The finest bass part EVER played on a tune! Its the "hook"- that's what that one finger style James used was called! Jamerson-the epitome of bass players! We love You brother!

JAMERSON! as far as I'm concerned music is all about feel. IMHO the real reason he's the goat is the ability to play a solo alongside Stevie and never get in his way. Stevie's vocal is 101 percent STEVIE but you can't get away from that other solo. Perfection

I first visited the Motown Museum in 1992. I literally cried just thinking of all of the beautiful music that was created in that small building. It's amazing!

I remember Jean Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin saying this track inspired him. Nobody but nobody played bass like James Jameson. I also heard a story that this bassline was scored before the recording session to try and trip him up but as always, after one run through, he aced it.

That bass was kicking so hard especially towards the end of the song and I can't forget Robert White on guitar ( I think) but I fell in love with the lyrics on how he loved this girl from the beginning of there friendship and he knew that there wouldn't be another love in his life

I stop on this version of my favorite Stevie Wonder song at least once a week, and then I play it several times in a row. I think it's the Funk Brothers that bring me back to this version again and again. It's also awesome that Stevie's mother was so talented in her own right, too.
