Talking to him you felt blessed. He had that something surrounding him you knew Jesus was present. My blessing level is maximum overdrive knowing I knew him, and stood in his airspace. A few years ago I was hanging out with some friends that are into music as we drank a few beers. The question came up: Who do you think the greatest guitar player of all time is? A few said Eric Clapton, some said Eddie Van Halen, and some mentioned others. When I told them I think Stevie Ray Vaughn is the greatest guitar player of all time they all looked at me and said "who???" Sadly many young folks have never heard of SRV and aren't aware of the awesomeness.

Not only Stevie. This is a cover of a Buddy Guy song. Buddy made it awesome back in 1969. Stevie made it his own while giving tribute to Buddy. Even the way Stevie says “Tisket” is the same way Buddy said it in a live version.

Mr. Reese Wynans on keys, plays nowadays with Mr. Joe Bonamassa...this live is one of the greatest performances!

This song was written by Buddy Guy in 1968 and released it July 26, 1968, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy were good friends and played together quite a bit. I know alot of people watch great guitarist and they think Jimi Hendrix was the first to play his guitar and do alot of tricks with it but Eric Clapton went to Marquee Club in 1965, Eric Clapton said he saw Buddy Guy play his guitar above his head, with his teeth and picked his guitar which you see Stevie Ray do alot. My husband and I went to see Buddy Guy perform here in Traverse city Michigan about 4 yrs ago and he was amazing, he took one of the drummers sticks and started playing his guitar but crazier then that he was really sweating so he got a towel wiped his sweat and then started playing his guitar with the towel. Stevie Ray Vaughan was so underrated, everything he could do with his guitar playing behind his head, broken string, switch guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, play with one hand, broken string, adjust his AMP'S while playing one handed, play with no hands just by moving the guitar up and down, he could play behind his back longer than anyone ever has but has never ranked #1 in any of the top greatest guitarist of all time. Stevie Ray could also play the drums, saxophone and piano but was soooo amazing on the guitar.

I honestly feel that there has never been or will ever be anyone as good as SRV 😭

It’s originally a Buddy Guy song. I saw Buddy Guy play with Stevie the last time he played in Austin, at his “Rites Of Spring” show at Auditorium Shores by the Colorado River. His statue is there now, but it’s further from the water than the stage that they used to build it seemed like right at the water’s edge. Seems like it was last week. Fate is cruel. Sunday, the night after Stevie died, we went to a wake at Liberty Lunch on 2nd St in Austin. Everyone was in shock and crying and no one really knew what to do. Stevie loved music, so Doyle Bramhall and some of Stevie’s other friends played and talked, and it became a joyful celebration of his life. I remember Doyle playing “Willie the Wimp and His Cadillac Coffin”. It felt like Stevie was there.

After that incredible first solo he had to tweak his high E back in tune. That performance is just insane.

I was supposed to see this line up with the legendary Tower of Power Horsn at Radio City NYC in Oct 1990. Sadly - the concert never happened.

The whole band is amazing,they enjoyed playing just as much as Stevie did. To me every performance felt like you were at a jam session on crack.

When I first saw this couple, I thought they might affect a too-cool-for-school vibe, but it turns out they're actually cheerful and sweet.

This version literally makes me cry every time! Such awesomeness ALL AROUND!!!

I saw him live several times, and he never played his sets the same way, the songs would change mood, order, and speed every time. It was really something to see.

My dad passed away December 22, Stevie Ray Vaughan was his favorite. Glad you guys enjoyed watching him :)

The fact that he played a strat with custom .013 gauge strings is insane. He tuned to Eb and played high action to allow them to resonate properly and didn't use a wound third so he could bend easier. That's why his tone was so unique.

Stevie was a channel. The music flowed through him like a prophet... I love your reaction!

I seen him live when I was but a young man. We lost one of the greatest, when he was taken too soon. RIP SRV.

Yes, Tommy Shannon on bass, Reese Wynans on keys, and Chris Whipple on drums! They keep Stevie in his pocket and support him wherever he goes. Stevie sets the pace and they follow him. Stevie was always so humble though. Even though as the main attraction Stevie would be asked questions about his band. He always said he was their guitarist. He insisted their fee for performing would be spilt evenly between them which was unheard of but Stevie wouldn't have it any other way. They loved each other like brothers. If you want to hear honey vocals please react to "Life Without You" performed at the Capital Theatre. He wrote that song after his good friend Charlie passed suddenly from a heart attack. Charlie had a guitar shop in Dallas and They became very close. Enjoy your reactions guys‼️. Keep up the good work and keep SRV coming🎶🎸

Thank you for your reaction! I had the honor of seeing SRV 3X, when he passed thru NYC. You just could not sit still during one of his shows. My friends nearly got thrown out of Radio City Music Hall for dancing in the aisles, we didn't care! He was the GOAT, IMHO!

what an incredible musician srv was, live, in the studio, composing, playing, singing, one of the most complete and impressive musicians in the history of rnr, and music.

PLEASE make a reaction video of Stevie Ray Vaughan (at the same Austin City Limits concert as above, 1989) to "Look at Little Sister'. Not so much for the song itself, but to SRV changing guitars after breaking a string, MID-SONG, and NEVER MISSING ONE SINGLE NOTE. This "feat" is as impressive as any guitarist has ever done before. Also note the Stevie Ray plays with 13 gauge strings...the largest strings made, these are basically cables. Almost all performing guitarists use 6 or 7 gauge and many have said that they tried 13 gauge before and their hands cramped up after 10 minutes. SRV's hands were gorilla strong. Plus, I've never seen ANY guitarist break more strings than Stevie Ray...I saw him break three strings at the Daytona concert.

Stevie......pure guitar freak. I play. Could he be the best ever? I have watched and reviewed hundreds. I don’t think anyone is the best...it’s to hard to give that away with so many greats. With that being said, if I was forced to rank my top five? I would have trouble not listing him as number one. LOL. I always thought I could play guitar halfway decent but when I watch this guy? I feel like I started yesterday and I only have one string How? Just mesmerized.

This freakin' guy was just the tops. I only got to see him live once, but what a show. I think this genre of music would of been even more mainstream if he had survived. Man I miss him. Talk about God given ability. You can't be taught that.

Legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy was famous for his blues version of this song. . .SRV just did his own version of it, and made it great because of his immense talent.

The high expectations Travis expressed at the start were soon eclipsed by what followed. Absolutely loved seeing your faces during this jam. Priceless! The first time I ever heard Stevie Ray Vaughan was this live performance of "Mary Had A little Lamb," and was blown away, and ever since then I cannot get enough of him!

When I saw SRV in concert for the "Live! Alive!" tour in 1987, he used that particular Strat on the stage. Whats amazing about his abilities is that, he reputedly used 13 gauge strings on his guitars. Now, imagine the strength it takes to bend those strings upwards, on the frets! He had large and powerful hands.

He played GHS Nickel Rockers custom 13's tuned to Eb. He didn't use a wound third so it was a little easier to bend and had lighter high strings. Still tough to bend but not hands of Thor tough. .013 - .015 - .019p - .028 - .038 - .058 is the set he typically used, although he would sometimes play .012 if his hands were fatigued. When I played Heavier stuff I played GHS Boomers 11 gauge and it was pretty tough to bend for solos (which is why I eventually went to Super Slinkys). My set was .011 - .015 - .018 - DY26 - DY36 - DY50. That's considered Medium gauge. The heavy 13 sets go 13 - 17 - 26 - 36 - 44 - 56, so yeah he played some thick strings

Not sure if you guys knew this yet but SRV was pretty much discovered by David Bowie. SRV plays most of the guitar on Bowie's "Let's Dance" album. But I digress......you should react to SRV performing "Life Without You" live at the Capital Theater in NJ in 2005. In that performance Stevie Ray is obviously quite wasted but he proceeds to perform perhaps his greatest guitar mastery ever! I mean, it's not too often you get to see a guy play the guitar with his teeth!!!!

thanks, guys for your enthusiastic reaction -- gotta say that SRV was known for his generosity to other musicians - despite his incredible abilities, he often "stepped back" to let others get a little light --just such a great musician, and also human - wish we didn't have to miss him!
