    Justin, thanks for taking me up on this one. Figured as such, just messing with you. Sorry, 2 days late due to life. The way nursery rhymes should be introduced to kids. If you're into Terry Kath, check out "Poem 58" off Chicago's first, the CTA album [has some killer bass for you also for you to enjoy]. I just subbed for those coming SRV reactions, and yea, "Life Without You" live from the Capitol theatre is probably my favorite 👍

    It takes some time to listen to all of SRV's music. I know, I have been listening for years. He's astoundingly talented and a great guy. Another great guitarist you might want to check out is Eric Steckel. He tours a lot in Europe, so a lot of folks don't know who he is but I think you'll enjoy his guitar style. On his albums, he plays guitar, keyboard, and bass. And he sings. Okay that's my ad for Eric Steckel. Thanks for this one SRV totally rocks!!

    ✌️🙌Thanks Justin‼️ as I went to watch this I was hoping you would pause to talk but to my great surprise you didn't talk over the great music! I appreciate your reading comments and responding. It means a lot. I will look forward to your next one. I love this rendition Stevie does. Originally this is a Buddy Guy arrangement that Stevie built upon. He and Buddy Guy were best of friends and Buddy is still playing the blues at his Chicago Club at age 85! I love the part where Stevie takes his pick off the mic stand and kisses it. His close relationship with every part of his guitar is what sets him apart from most everyone. For more Resse Wynan licks, check out "Couldn't Stand the Weather" from the Capitol Theatre in 1985. Great song from DT but Reese is really smoking it🔥.as you can can tell from the Tin Pan Alley w/ Johnny Copeland performance that everyone was lost in the groove. What a thrilling performance from everyone on that great rendition. Just magical. Life Without You from the Capitol Theatre contains everything and then some. Lots of surprises for you but you should know going in that Stevie wrote that song when his good friend Charley Wirz, a Dallas guitar shop owner, passed away suddenly. Charley was the one who put that white guitar together from parts for Stevie. So it is a very touching and emotional song and his masterful playing is a loving tribute to his friend. As far as Dirty Pool goes, probably choose the one from them1982 (1983?) Montreux Jazz Festival. So now I am watching for your next trip down the SRV rabbit hole! Keep on going there is plenty of room down here✌️💙

    Its hard to have just one favorite with Stevie, but dirty pool is up there with the others. Looking forward to it, it doesn't get its deserved recognition. Truth is though, it's just another version of a song he did with Marc Benno & the Nightcrawlers way back in 1973 called 8 Ball. Both great songs but dirty pool is so much better than it began. Try fitting "all your love I miss loving" on your Stevie list for me too would you? Ive got like fifty more I want to see, like from Rome inn or when he (age 15) recorded "I heard a voice last night" with Cast of Thousands, minutes after meeting the band and never hearing the song before... but I'll be happy with just the one for now. You're doing fine work sir. Bug you on the next one.

Then, if you haven't seen it, you must check out the other version of "Look at Little Sister " with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey. Jeff Healey fills in the Reese part, so no Reese, but holy freaking shit, you should see Jeff and Stevie Ray, just making you happy you're alive, to see that performance. I'm not even kidding. Standard three-chord blues progression. Competent, but not really impressive. -- Some obscure, rando guitarist on KZread reacting to this performance. As for me, I'm not a musician, so I don't know. I don't even know what a standard three-chord progession is, although I have heard the term used before.

  • @JustinPanariello

    @JustinPanariello

    2 жыл бұрын

    Whats impressive is what is done with the progression. How 'difficult' a song is really doesn't matter and is frankly subjective. Modal jazz tunes that are one or two tonalities like 'So What' Miles Davis is impressive because of what the musicians do with the tune. How they're able to shape the song and their use of chord tones, tensions, phrasing, rhythm, etc.
