Young is very underrated. His name never comes up in best Qb debates but as a Packers fan, he always made me nervous when he had his team on offense. Young was a hell of a Qb.

Dude. Respect. This is why I respect Packers fans. Always know their shit about football. Talk Football.... and we both hate the Seahawks. LOL

Thanks for the upload. As a longtime 49er fan, we were damn fortunate to have 2 HOF caliber quarterbacks back-to-back in their careers.

I think Dan Marino was the greatest pure passer ever but Steve Young was the greatest all-around QB ever. Young was so much better than the over-rated Montana period.

3:59 i remember that vividly. He came 2 yards shy of becoming the first guy to throw a TD to himself.

I do declare, I think Steve Young is the greatest QB ever. Joe and Tom are really good, but Steve is a step above.

He didn't have enough behind him. Honestly... would've rolled the Falcons and Broncos in 98.. but Hearst getting rekt which totally rekt our gameplan. :( Elway would've been pushed to retirement with 1 ring.

Best compliment came from one great (Favre) to another (Young) at 10:00 'They'll be talking about it for a long time'.

Montana and young were both awesome. Montana was more clutch. Young was a more consistent and athletic quarterback. Montana had bill walsh and better teammates and no free agency. But if you have 2 minutes left and have to score you have to take joe. But 49ers fans were lucky to have both these guys. Steve was definitely more exciting to watch and probably should have won at least 2 superbowls.

I will always be a fan of Montana (and got to meet both Montana and Dwight Clark at a Mexican restaurant called Casa Maria's next to the San Francisco airport right after they won the first Super Bowl when I was around 10 or 11 (I met Clark a second time and got to play Ms Pac-Man with him at the same place). But when Young took over it was just an awesome site to watch. I actually stopped watching football for a few years after he left. Just wasn't the same without him.

That 1994-95 team was the absolute pinnacle of the (Walsh) West Coast Offense. The offense became unstoppable, but it also worked in perfect harmony with the defense, grinding away the clock (think of the 07 Pats, 01 Rams and 13 Broncos and how not doing that cost them), able to strike deep when necessary, and able to keep defenses honest with runs, play actions and regular passes all from the same looks, and even more importantly, with the same personnel (need a third WR? Just split Ricky Watters out wide or put him in the slot, while FB William Floyd plays HB because he's fast and elusive enough. Need a 5 WR set? Put Floyd and Watters in the slots, along with Rice in the slot and TE Brent Jones and WR John Taylor on the outside). That team could have scored way more points than they did, but they chose to meticulously wear down defenses. It was BY DESIGN, and the result was that their defense was always rested and ferocious. Few teams have ever had that kind of total balance that produces that kind of synergy, and it's why that team will always be ranked among the greatest ever.

I'll have to disagree as the 1989 San Fransisco team was way better... Its funny to note, that the 89' 49ers held the record before 94' set it.

You can't leave out the fact that Young was a threat on the ground. Not as crazy as Kaepernick but still forced linebackers to make a choice - to get him or defend the receiver.. either way Young usually won.

Of course Joe M was great, the proof is in the proverbial pudding. But he NEVER would run like Steve did nor give himself up to help the team in that manner, so you decide. And Joe M was incredibly ungrateful and the way he treated Young made him a..... well.....you fill in the blank there......in my book.
