As a 54 yr. old black man I had to see what these young people thought about this tune. I believe it was released in like 81 and remixed and re-released in 87. I still enjoy listening to it and the Chaka Khan duo “Higher Love”. Glad I came across this. 👍🏿

Love me some Steve Winwood! He was my first concert ever, and he killed it! Rockin us out to all the Spencer Davis, Traffic, and Blind Faith songs as well as his solo stuff. Do yourselves a favor and look for the live video of Traffic's Dear Mr Fantasy. You're welcome.

OK, so this song is about a backing Singer name Valerie who became addicted to Heroin, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton knew her, the words ( No she cant be the one with the wind in her arms ) is refering to Needles and Heroin, its a very sad song, he is trying to say to her come and see me i am just the same guy i used to be, so he can help her, great song, incredibly talented Artist.

Major artist, major voice. 💯 Perhaps it's "Paper Sun" kzread.info/dash/bejne/f4Ssl4-Mnpusorw.html next or "When I Come Home" kzread.info/dash/bejne/mX-c2LWQo8vPn7Q.html

They also remade this into a sorta techno pop song later in the years and used his chorus on it... forgot what it was called but believe its called Call On Me

Steve was at the beginning of quality British (invasion) rock. Even as a teenager he was talented playing in Blind Faith, Traffic and more. He’s an accomplished guitarist, keyboard player and vocalist. He’s Brit rock royalty.

Steve Winwood is a bona fide musical genius This was during his highly successful solo career during the 80's, but my favorite era are his earlier days. From a teenage prodigy with the Spencer Davis Group ("Gimmie Some Lovin' " - when he drew huge crowds in the London clubs and was hailed as the white Ray Charles) to his formation of his incredible band Traffic, and then the supergroup Blind Faith (with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker)

most younger people will recognize the sample taken from this song in a newer song/video Call On Me by Eric Prydz.....video was done in an aerobics class with some hot bodies!

A very great voice, as always. Also a memorable one for many reasons given that Steve Winwood was in Traffic, The Spencer Davis Group, Blind Faith, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Eric Clapton and the Powerhouse and his solo career.

Steve is a legend. He started as the teenager with the amazing voice in Spencer Davis Group in the 60s, from there to Traffic and Blind Faith before going solo. Multi-instrumentalist and great singer. You should try "While You See a Chance" and "Arc of a Diver" (SW solo), "Dear Mr Fantasy" (with Traffic), "Can't Find My Way Home" (Blind Faith) and "Gimme Some Loving" (Spencer Davis Group). You won't regret it!
