When I first saw this several months ago, I didn't think that was a real instrument but it must be, it even has its own web site. The site is cool, shows how it was designed and built (the engineer in me spent too much time examining it). I wonder how much this monster weighs if the Warwick Buzzard Marko uses weighs 70#? I saw a video of the first time he played the Hydra and there was a drummer and bass player on stage with him. Just when you thought you were a guitar player! Lessons anyone? Steve Vai is one of my favorite guitarists. If you think this is incredible check out his other newer video - Knapsack - it's mind-blowing. My favorite song of his is "For the Love of God" live from 14 yrs. ago with an orchestra. Steve programmed the drum track. That's what he threw on the floor and it lit up with his name. Check out Knappsack. He plays the whole song with one hand. He has some accompanying parts pre-recorded and plays wo them.

Went to Steve’s latest tour Inviolate. Had the meet and greet experience that was just bada$$. This is a humble no nonsense dude and one of the best rock guitarist to ever play music. If you get the chance go see Steve in concert and get the meet/greet you actually get to hangout a while and talk and ask him questions. An experience that I will never forget 🤘

FYI, Steve plays this live too .. and yes, plays it EXACTLY like the video .. absolutely astonishingly talented .. OH .. MY .. GOD! .. totally awesomeness!

seems great those 3 guitars in 1, but the point is, you can play on it, occasionally tapping a bass string, I don't really think it plays despite the fact that I know him well, I don't think he is of a high level, but he knows that too, for the real player who gets everything out of one guitar look at bleus player Justin Jonssen, plays fantastic and the real one who can do everything bleus rock ,hard rock ,pop you name it plays to every guitar he sees and comes across travels the whole world around earns millions with his super many performances around the world. Mister Tommy Emmanuelson. plays an entire orchestra after an acoustic guitar and sounds fantastic and without loop machines or any equipment whatsoever, all live really incredible, the best guitar player I have ever seen and heard🤘🤘❤️❤️🤘🤘

I saw him play this live back in October of 22.

Steve Vai is one of the few men in the world who is considered a GOD of the guitar and it is not for less, the way of playing is inhuman, it is beyond comprehension. The Hydra is not a musical instrument, it is rather a machine that only he is worthy of playing, just like Thor's fucking hammer only he is worth touching, so is Steve Vai's Hydra.

The Hydra Instrument ,cause you can't really call it a guitar lol has a side harp, half fretless 12 string top, center 7 string, 4 string half fretless bass and has built in effects and midi

Top neck, 12 string semi fretless piezo open tuned, middle neck, 7bstring drop "a" tuned, bottom neck, short scale bass, semi fretless on the top 2 strings and open tuned, acoustic harp and a bunch of electronic switches as well as some sort of valves on top of the guitar... just stupid 😂😂😂😂
