Steve Strange: the funeral video by Shapersofthe80s, 2015
Ойын-сауық
BEST WATCHED AT FULL SCREEN. . . Grief was all too evident throughout the funeral in Wales on 12 March 2015 for Steve Strange, frontman of the 80s synthpop band Visage. Members of Spandau Ballet and Boy George were among the pall-bearers attending the service at All Saints Church, Porthcawl. Sax player Steve Norman and singer Boy George gave addresses.
Shapersofthe80s.com videoed the key moments and has assembled this commemorative report, “A Strangely Steve Farewell”. Alas, sound quality in the church was a little flaky! You can read the full text of both eulogies at Shapersofthe80s.com - wp.me/pE8aS-2V0
Also there, all on one website, is the tidal wave of tributes from the original Blitz Kids that have flooded in for Steve Strange since his death in February. Plus eye-witness reports from the 1980s, the New Romantic era of UK youth culture.

OMG I was in that era too and It was amazing, so glad, it does not seem so long ago mind you. I loved the music, the made up fashions and the posing and all that went with it... We are privileged to have lived in it. Best wishes..

Six years gone now! 😢. What an innovator Steve was. I remember with pride dressing up as Steve Strange for a school fancy dress back in 1982. I walked into the school hall with Fade to Grey playing in the background and I felt so damn cool! Lol. I have my art teacher Miss Owen to thank for doing my make up! I miss him so much but his music lives on in my heart. God bless Steve. X

I miss you Steve, living with you was to ignore boredom. You gave me some beautifull years and I SHALL ALLWAYS LOVE YOU. with you I lived a charmed life
George's poem for Steve was honest and heartfelt
Steve, you shaped my life in the 80's. Thank you!
Fade to Grey.... But never forgotten. First saw photos of him and the other Blitz Kids in one of the early issues of The Face Magazine back in the early 80's. That was a game changer for me with regards to fashion and attitude. RIP where ever you may be. 😉
Fade to Grey is probably my favorite song of all times. Over 40 years ago I was fascinated when I first heard it, still listen to it very often. Thank you Steve. Rip
Time to close your mind and drift off to sleep on the journey of the night train. RIP Steve.
I loved Visage, life is far too short. 😢
I'm watching this video now and I'm crying. 😭😭I love Visage and new romantic music. Why do such wonderful and talented people leave so quickly? Fortunately, music stays forever... R.I.P
This is sad. He was young. I have all of his Visage music on my laptop. My heart goes out to him.
The first group I was really in to. Incredible front man. Shall always miss him.
Thank you very much for sharing. R.I.P Steve. You represented a great music era, an icon when i was in my teens. Farewell..XD
Still frequently listen to Fade to Grey , and think , wow , this is so modern. Timeless music , that allows Steve , to still be here with us all .
A Beautiful Video...for a beautiful man ...RIP Steve x x x x
I will never let your memory go Steve, in my heart your style, your music, your kindness will live on forever. xx
He influenced me when i was like 13 yrs old. My dad would bring back all these cool pop culture mags from Scotland back to Canada. That was how i first seen Visage and his style blew me away. I remember copying his make up and going to high school like that. Sad to hear he died so young......the man was so ahead of his time.
this is sow sad l cant belive you have passed and you are from my own town and you are a legend rip steven god bless you. your songs will never fade away 😍😍😍

Beautiful man x
How very sad that this great person left us too soon, the fade to gray film clip is still the greatest

legend
He once invited me to his sister's house in Blackheath. He was a really nice person although, at the time, around 1992, he was snorting far too much cocaine.
Comedy Genius.
New Romantic's are not so boring Mr Gary Numan as Steve proved. A great life celebrated. I'm sure Gary never meant it when he wrote Dance.

@@gearoidmacruari2292 yeah, it took a while to get my head around Dance after Telekon but definitely one of his best to date.
Sad really I bought the record it was the nuts back the we had more respect as we had to handle ourselves
He was care about future stars, live as a leader, was talented at all but why he was no so popular in a world only in UK star than Culture Club, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Sex Pistols
for me the music died when he died he was my teenage/twenties years old-hood
Think steve would have been very happy with that send off .
No the Damned don't cry

I wouldn't know but hope his later life wasn't caustic and bitter. Don't know why but I think it was. Such young talents don't take care of themselves. He was too young to die.
