I love ultravox and especially their earlier albums with john foxx on vocals. The 1980 visage debut album with fade to grey featuring midge ure is a complete classic.

I think it always will be brilliant. It is something Steve created which is pure art and lives outside of time. Just class. That is why it still sounds just as fresh today.

@toddblanks

@@harryseddon776 The 70's all the way from beginning to end never missed a beat for music. But i also love the 1980's for music. 80's bands moved things more forward into different sound textures due to the electronics with the synthesizer and programming which helped broaden horizons. The 70's is a very interesting decade for music. I think most people who prefer the 80's is because there was a lot of depression in previous times looking at ways to escape it through their own music. But most look back at the 70's stuff today and remind themselves that there was some amazing bands at the time who they were definitely influenced by. People like marc bolan, david bowie, roxy music, brian eno, the talking heads just to name a few, were massively influential.

@@toddblanks , I do believe Queen was influenced by Sweet, on some of their songs I hear Sweets singing techniques and lyrics scattered about. Sweet was one of the most underrated bands of the 70's but their music was fantastic.
You pronounce Porthcawl spot on Paul. ❤ xx The wreath with the red ribbon was placed by me at Christmas. The flowers in the bunch on the right I placed on the anniversary of his passing. I do this on behalf of the fans. X ❤

What a great message from Tanya Harrington. I remember when Steve appeared as himself in Ashes To Ashes. RIP Steve Strange. You'll never fade to grey.
I was at Visage concerts in the early 80s.....he was brilliant. If anyone's seen the video for David Bowies Ashes to Ashes, Steve is one of the people in the video.....before he hit the big time.

"Fade to Grey" will always be one of my favourite songs, I played this song in my car on my first date 30 years ago this month, with now my wife, pure classic and will never get bored listening to it, I will play the "Visage" album enroute to work tomorrow. "" RIP Steve Strange ""
Fade to grey!! Quality tune.
He was hugely influential. What a lovely tribute to this talented man.
I've heard of Visage, heard of Steve Strange but didn't know he'd passed. I think his influence helped make the new romantic fashion styles attractive and available to ordinary people, a bit like the mods in the 1960s. He's left a proud and worthy legacy.
I thought Steve Strange was the coolest guy ever when I was growing up. I'm glad his grave looks like it's visited regularly. R.I.P. Steve Strange. Thanks Paul.
For me "Fade To Grey" was thee song of the 80's ..Happy memories for me of better times .. RIP Steve Strange

Hi Paul, when I saw this video it kicked me back , Fade to Grey was my first single i have ever bought. I was a big fan of the new Romantik movement , now I’m 55 and still listen to that music. Thank you for another great video . Greetings from Germany 🙋♀️

As a Depeche mode fan for over 40 years,i have to say that Fade to grey is a complete anthem for the eighties.
The 80s was such a colourful decade. A bit wild but memorable. I was a student then and it is the music of that era I remember.
What a lovely tidy cemetary , liked the way you walked up the middle and back , thanks to steve strange , spandau ballet became a great band. What a beautiful memorial to him .
Fade To Grey, what a brilliant song and exceptional music video.

Great item on Steve. I was born in 1970 and remember the early 80s fondly. Steve strange was such an iconic person from that era. My mum is also buried in the same grave yard as Steve.

Another fine tribute ,Paul , although I stopped buying records ..yes ,records in the late 1970's , so this was a bit of an education as well . I often heard fade to grey on many a NAFFI jukebox . So sad that he left the train of life a few stations too early . RIP ,Steve .
I absolutely worship Steve music and visage remember the photons always treasured thanks for all the beautiful music and memory hugs and kisses 💋💋💋
I loved Visage, still listen to Fade to Grey. Rest in peace Steve, a true innovator ❤
As a kid I would sit alone listening to Visage. I never grew out of the new romantic movement, so would often be bullied when music and fashion moved on. I went to Steve’s 50th birthday party and a few of his events in the mid 2000s. I went alone to his funeral, a 500 mile round-trip. I stood in the rain for two hours waiting. I was interviewed by the Sun, newspaper, heart, radio, and local papers in Radio due to the way I was dressed. The BBC and Boy George tweeted pictures of the wreath I had sent with our picture on. I send a wreath every year to his sister for the grave. I am still so upset that I have never managed to get there myself, so thank you for posting this. Last tune, I represented and led the new romantic, 1980s section of the Queen’s platinum jubilee parade through London. I did it for him. I still cry every time I hear fade to Grey. He was such a pioneer and leader of the 80s music and fashion movement. I will never get over his loss and have a tattoo of the fade to Grey single cover on my arm.

Brilliant video and Tribute Paul. I grew up in Central London in The 70s/80s and Boy George & Marilyn lived opposite me in a squat. As a Young adult in the 90s I lived in Maida Vale and remember seeing Steve very frequently around there in the shops etc. I have absolute fond memories of These electronic new wave pioneers and absolute respect for them and their Music and what they stood for. They swept away the boring conservative side of Britain and bought colour, joy and style. Fade to Grey was an absolute banger track. Gorffwys mewn heddwch/Rest in Peace Steve ❤️🏴✝️
Nous deviendrons tous ’’gris’’ Merci pour l’hommage 🙏🏻
Thankyou Paul , I loved Steve’s music he was such a kind and unique artist. Another sad loss. Loved his artistic talent x

Thank you Paul for another respectful video.... I was lucky enough to meet Steve a few times in the 80s, he sometimes guest dj at a club in Southend, I have his autograph as well.... Top guy, really lovely, always chatted and had a giggle with us 🙏 x
Brilliant singer and great song Fade To Grey
I'm typing this as I stand by Steve's headstone. It's a beautiful summer morning, there are Wrens singing all around on the tops of their voices, I'm sure Steve will be listening from the next part of his journey. Awesome guy
I was 14 when Steve shot to stardom with Fade To Grey. I was instantly hooked not only on the song, but on him and the beautiful girls who always performed with him. I lived in Germany at the time, and the song took the number one spot for a long time. I loved Steve's eccentricity, his clothes, his style. He was a fascinating man, and I know that he influenced my generation in a big way, which I will be forever grateful for. He gave so much to the music industry, and he ushered in the New Romantic Wave, which was so important to many of us back then. I was absolutely shocked back in 2015 when I heard he had passed away. There is a sad truth to the saying that the great people die young. Rest in peace, Steve.
Fade to grey absolute awesome song 🎶 I've danced to that a few times over the years🕺thanks for another great vid Paul always done with respect
Fitting tribute as all your film are. Brilliant decade the 80's Fade to grey is and will always be an anthem, still as haunting as it was when I first heard it in the Limit club Sheffield .
Thanks for the lovely tribute to an icon and he sounded a genuine person, loved fade to grey, would dance all night to the New Romantic music back in the fabulous 80s🥰🥰🥰
He was my hero and I loved him ❤he had a great voice and until today, it gives no other artist with so many different faces 👌🏽💪🏾he is the king of the 80es for me ❤
Heard of Visage and i liked their song Fade to grey and it was years later that i found out his name sadly after he died
"Visage, fantastic 80's music! ......Aahhh, happy days!!"💋💋💋

One of the most well kept celeb graves. Great headstone. Lovingly kept. Great era for music.
Mind of a toy, a truly spectacular song. Thought provoking lyrics, one of my favourites. RIP Steve x
What a great video Paul - as always. I'll be singing 'Fade to Grey' for the rest of the evening. A classic which will never fade into the background. It comes around all the time, and it's still 'worthy' today as it was when it first came out. Steve's grave is so well tended and obviously lots of love going into that. I love the headstone with the picture of Steve on it. It's perfect! So sad that he left this life too soon. But he was obviously needed elsewhere for reasons we don't know about. Loved the video. Well done ~ Cobs.
It is still our deepest piece, Fade To Grey by romantic New Wave maestro, Steve Strange! Requiescat in Pace. Amazing fellow

Steve Strange was a great eccentric, his smiley face was a breath of fresh air compared to the moody looks of the time 😊 The good old British weather makes us say ‘filled with rain like an English summer’ countless times every year. One of my favourite songs.
Great era. So nostalgic all that period was an immense change in music and fashion. I loved buying all my gear in Carnaby street. Going see bands such as Japan, Ultravox, Numan and dressing up was all part of such epic sounds. Still play all those tunes such as the Human league etc. The Blitz I was never in, but it was quite a time looking back.
I just got shivers and head tingles when you showed his beautiful grave. Beautiful❤️
