I was in touch with your uncle quite a bit after he published his book and he was so kind, funny and just such a great guy. Rest in Peace, Stevie…. the Sweet music lives forever!

Then my friend got the Desolation Blvd. album and sent me a copy on 8-track tape playing dj in between songs and making up his own silly commercials. Later I got the "Level Headed" album which had "Love is Like Oxygen" Loved the art work on the album cover. And then back in the late 80's or early 90's i bought the Hits album on vinyl. Feeling truly devastated to lose Steve as he had been recovering from an illness for some Months and all was looking good recently with the Sweet fan community around the world praying for him, so very sad he did not recover. Steve was my first love rock icon, a beautiful and incredibly talented man with the cheekiest face ever, very naughty in his antics and a real charismatic showman. He joins Brian and Mick in Rock 'n' Roll Heaven. I sadly never met Steve but got all excited at the beginning of 2020 when he announced he might come back to the UK for some gigs, many of us hoping he would get together with Andy, but then he fell ill. I have seen Andy's AS Sweet many times and met him and even lived a few doors down from one of his band members. I am due to see Andy's Sweet again in the UK in December. I saw Brian's BC Sweet in the early 90's and met him actually spending several hours in his company, when I realised Brian was a truly beautiful person not just to look at but he had a real soft soul. I loved Sweet from Funny Funny days as I was a child back then and those songs appealed to me when I was 8 but I soon discovered the Rocky B sides and loved those songs more and progressed with the Sweet as they became a rock outfit and metal on the likes of 'set me free which is pre NWOBH. It pains me that Sweet have never really received the credit they deserve in music history being so influential to so many top bands, so many covering their songs.

Steve was always my favorite member of Sweet. He never took himself too seriously, and was always goofing it up on camera, in spite of his amazing talent. I especially loved his appearance on TOTP in 1973 where he was decked out as "gay Hitler", complete with a kaiser helmet and a giant "FUCK YOU" stenciled on the back of his bass, which he would flash at the cameras. It was that irreverent attitude combined with his musical abilities that made him special. I'll really miss his presence. RIP

I did meet Steve Priest. I met him last April (2019) in Las Vegas, with his band. They were all kind and friendly. Steve signed autographs. Although he didn't say much, he still played bass like a dream, sang and had the same mischievous twinkle in his eye you see in every picture of him. RIP Steve. I'll cherish my pictures, albums and autograph.

Stevie was such a cool guy, fantastic bassist and singer. I witnessed Sweet live, in '75, here in New Zealand. First concert I went to and it blew my mind ~ so powerful and amazing! I still have Mick Tucker’s drum stick, which I managed to catch in the air when he threw it, after his phenomenal drum solo, “The Man With The Golden Arm". Sweet didn't get anywhere near the recognition they should have as musicians, but these days they seem to be getting a lot more praise. Great to hear and see the comments here. Rest in Peace, Brian, Mick and now, Steve. Sweet Forever!

John, I saw Sweet open for KISS in the summer of '79 during their Dynasty tour. Sweet was phenomenal, constantly poking fun @ Kiss, occasionally changing lyrics & Andy smashing his guitar onstage (I suppose to imitate Paul Stanley's routine)... Great show. They were obviously having fun & still played spot on. RIP Steve Priest.

The Sweet was always one of my favorite bands in the 70's and still today. Desolation Blvd and Give us a Wink are both great albums. I am really heartbroken to just be finding out about this more than a week later. I still follow both Steve and Andy on social media but hadn't been on in a few weeks. My condolences to Steve's family. Think I'll go listen to Desolation Blvd now. RIP Steve.

The part that still stands out for me is when they did "Ballroom Blitz" and Steve's part "She'll kill you with a wink of her eye" was "She'll kill you with a wink, of her twat." I loved their humor. First let me say rest in peace Steve Priest. I'm 55 , a drummer, although I'm disabled and haven't played in quite some time. Once a violin player always a violin player. I remember as a kid hearing " Little Willy Willy " on the radio constantly when it came out. I remember my older brother and cousin listening to and air drumming to " Ballroom Blitz " when it was popular. I never got into them . I wasn't into the whole glam thing and more rock, , heavy metal . Although I love all kinds of music that I'm sure most people would find weird. However, a year or two ago, I realized that I had Ballroom Blitz stuck in the song list of my mind forever. I thought, I have a computer in front of me let's listen to Ballroom Blitz. Let me tell you, I got stuck in the Sweet wormhole, and was blown away. I can't believe that I never listened to these guys . Sure they have those really teeny bopper cutesy wutesy songs , but, they also have some REALLY heavy music in their catalog. Steve Tucker is playing double bass drums unlike anyone else was at the time. More like you would hear today and has some really good chops . I know there were others, but they sound more primitive. Anyway, I fell in love with The Sweet. They were an awesome band . It's unfortunate the way band politics sometimes go , and we all know that if you live fast you go fast . That being said , I believe The Sweet are a very important and influential band to the world of rock .
