One of Steve’s attributes that made him Excel, is that Steve is an incredible show man. Steve is very humble, but when I went to see Toto, I could not get my eyes off him. His crazy outfits, crazy hair, crazy glasses, crazy moves and crazy sounds. Steve was the Show. If you have never seen Toto, look at old performances.

I met Steve when Toto did their last tour to New Zealand, actually chatted to him at the airport. What an incredibly sweet, nice, and humble person! And then, at the show that night, he looked out into the audience and saw me, and just smiled and waved to me. Left me feeling so great!

Steve Porcaro doesn’t give himself the credit he deserves. He’s Great. He’s one of the Best Ever. I discovered him playing the piano JoJo by Boz Scaggs in around 1971. I saw him on the video as Boz starting singing “Look Out Behind You..” and comes up behind Steve. Steve turns around smiling, keeps playing and rocking.... Steve was loving it and I saw him rocking it..... I’m now his Fan forever. Steve, keep rocking. You’re a gift to music and my love of music. Love when you play with Boz.

This is just pure Gold . Steve is ONE of a kind for sure . To hear him talking about his/their upbringing and how everything came together is absolutely heartwarming and exiting . I am so very happy for that Family . And of course sad for their loss of Jeff and Mike . I cant resist to add , in the late summer of 2018 i took my family to Grand Rapids , we saw our Doctor there for just some natural remedy consultation stuff . we get back in the car to drive over to the outdoor Concert event place where ToTo was set to perform that day and see if they have a few tickets left . well it was difficult cause there were only 2 or so left and we are a family of 4 . long story short ,we got 2 tickets and were told to come back before start of concert and there should be more available . so we drove to a nearby little neighborhood with Cafes etc . and as i made a right on the cafe that we liked i see Steve sitting there with his wife having Lunch . i couldn't believe it !!!!! i told my wife and my two boys almost shouting "you guys .....you know who is sitting there ?????........its Steve Porcaro !!!!! at the time i had an SD card with mostly original compositions of mine to listen for me and the boys in the car . so i dialed up MY yamaha Motif track of Africa ....i turned around the car opened our left windows and cranked it up .....so to make sure he can hear it ....we (luckily) had to stop at the red light .....so the Intro with the Marimba Kalimba sound is saturating the corner Cafe ...and i dare to shout over to what i believed was Steve ....." STEVE !!!!! ...... IS THIS STEVE....???...... And he smiled ,didn't look up but nodded his head with amusement ." it was a Party at that point in the car my boys (both drummers ) and on a Toto EW&F and anything else that is baddass are laughing . so i park the car , tell my wife i will the Emil my 4 year old and walk over to Steve for a quick chat . And Man , let me tell you all , Steve is a wonderful Person. he was gracious and touched to hear my sincere acknowledgment that i expressed to him . About the Music he gave us over the years and ToTo of course , and made sure i let him know how much we all miss Jeff and Mike . and his response was warm and natural 'yeah Man i miss them too' Long story short , the Porcaros are Brilliant and Gifted and Passionate Musicians . Thanks Joe Porcaro to have the Gut and Vision to take your Boys and wife to L.A. Toto would have not happened . certainly not like it turned out to be ... and thanks Don for another great great interview !!! God Bless

As a keys player of some 40 years, that 5 line, 4 space drum legend screws with my head, and my 20/50 eyesight, but.... i've had it for this long. I was in the Orlando Airport years ago and a very intelligent attractive young woman introduced herself to me as the cousin of the Porcaro brothers. That was a missed opportunity. I always fall for witches. Serves me right.

One of the last great recordings of the brothers together and to show off Steve's songwriting // STEVE PORCARO - 'BACK TO YOU' // kzread.info/dash/bejne/aq13vKWRpqqupKw.html // 1983 outtake that wound up on his first solo album "Someday/Somehow" in 2016 with his brothers Jeff & Mike (posthumously). The rapid synths, the tight drumming, the pocket bass fills, and the sense of lyrical urgency in the later years of a songwriter. Feel it all in this song. Sounds especially cool in headphones, especially with the synth patterns.

First time I saw Steve porcaro s name on an album was in 1980 I bought I am by EW&F! Steve lukather was also on there and David foster! Steve porcaro was credited with Synth programming! Then as I bought more albums his name and the other guys in toto kept popping up! I wasn't aware of toto but I recognised their names at that time! Steve is great!' His contribution to toto as important as lukather and paich for sure!

There is an episode of Justified where Steve pulls out a TOTO song off Hydra...Angela (Bobby Kimball's best vocal track ever)...only a hard core TOTO fan would pick up that melody...kinda like watching The Andy Griffith Show and hearing melodies later used on Willy Wonka movie...
