WE DON'T EVEN HAVE ALL THE FACTS! There's literally still kids dying in the hospital and this guy is pushing some bill that may not have done anything to stop.

    I’m a die hard Miami Heat fan, and Steve Kerr just won me over as a fan of his, and the organization. Class personified, respectable man. This world is cruel, but our children aren’t contributors to the evil, they are victims. Yet today, they physically fell victim and evil triumphed and they lost their place on this earth. Love your neighbor, respect the innocent and defenseless. Spread love, not hate, It’s no longer God Bless America, it’s God bless our Earth. We are one. The pandemic should have illustrated how equal we all are.

    @leczorn

    I'm a 51 year old American and it wasn't always like this. What happened is that in the 1960s, welfare laws were changed and far more women were having children with the fathers absent. That resulted in far more children ending up in crime, drugs, and poverty. Furthermore, mental illness is a major problem here, and because of the extreme political power of the pharmaceutical industry, we have an over prescription of psychiatric drugs that make people more violent. To top it off, it's become such a volatile political issue in our two party system, which means that it's almost impossible to do anything to make the situation better. It's a vicious cycle that it's going to be very hard to break out of. There are countries with little gun control and little gun violence, countries with little gun control and heavy gun violence, countries with heavy gun control and little gun violence, and heavy gun control and heavy gun violence. The problem with the left wing in America is that they only focus on the gun. I try to focus on what makes one human being want to kill another, and why that's happened far more now amid more than 20,000 gun laws in the country than it did two generations ago when we had almost no gun laws.

    This is a really good idea but it would be so hard to pull off. Plus it would be so hard to coordinate. Think about it. There are hundreds of millions of people in America and some of those people are really tall and others are really short. Many people are simply not tall enough to touch shoulders with tall people. Plus, there are millions of old people in nursing homes. Think of all the people that are in intenseive care. Do we really want to be taking people out of hospice and prop them up like this? Not to mention all the infants and toddlers. I guess toddlers and old people in wheel chairs could be placed on platforms so that their shoulders would be at the right level to touch shoulders with the people on either side of them but it would be so difficult to coordinate this. You would have so many toddlers crawling off platforms. Plus, who is going to pay for all the travel expenses??

  • @michaelmusgrave1514

    @michaelmusgrave1514

    2 жыл бұрын

    I agree we need to address mental health and that’s it’s a huge issue in the United States based on culture, massive structural problems, lack of community support, and a lack of access to care but the solution to the gun problem is to address the ease of getting a gun. Most people who commit violence with a firearm would not be deemed as clinically mentally ill. I don’t like when people bring up mental health in this context, because addressing all mental health wouldn’t solve all gun violence. You address gun violence by making it more difficult to get guns. By conflating the 2 as the same problem, you play into the hands of the people trying to obscure the conversation around gun legislation to prevent this type of thing from happening again. They’re not the same problem. They’re certainly related, in that someone mentally unwell is far more volatile and dangerous with the power of a deadly weapon, but someone who is not clinically “mentally ill” with bad intentions is just as dangerous, if not more so because they’re more in control of their actions and act less on compulsion, so their violence is more premeditated and they rationalize it to themselves more. If we want to reduce gun violence, we should pass legislation to address gun violence. If we want to address mental illness, we should address that with legislation. But the easiest thing to do is to stop giving our deadly weapons like they’re just some toy.

The reasons have been given by Steve Kerr and it is really staggering. So many people have lost their lives here, 19 children!!! What else is going to happen to make people finally change their minds? Is the right to own a weapon really more important than the lives of children? I would wish that one of the politicians, who are responsible here, expresses this once exactly: Yes, this right is more important, than the life of your children! Where are the priorities there? I am far away, but it moves me to tears when I see this. Overreaction? How can anyone overreact to such an occasion? What else is more important than the lives of our children? I agree with Steve Kerr. Texas should adopt guns laws like Chicago, the toughest in the nation, where theyve only suffered 204 murder victims from guns so far in 2022. How clownish can one get? Oh that's right, facts don't matter when virtue signaling.

    What are we doing. As a retired cop my heart is devastated. 18 children are dead. The one who killed them is an 18 years old kid. How did he get an access to the gun. What are we doing? It's enough, I have a 5 years old and I will not send her to school. I will home school her. What are we doing? I am crying as I am venting through this comment 😭 it's time to do something about it. Mitch McConnell and company needs to wake up and stop being politicians. Mitch I am sure you have grand or great grand children. Just put your self in those parents shoes. Pass those darn laws make automatic and semi automatic weapons unaccessable to the general public. Run highly extensive background and mental health checks. Please save our kids our youth and our elderly from these senseless shootings. Do something

    I wish these issues were as simple as one side is right and the other is wrong. The shooter legally purchased his firearms, and passed the background check because he had no criminal record. If anything, this country needs to deal better with mental health and bullying to prevent the formation of people like the shooter, but that is such a complex issue that people do not really know what to do. I wish I knew how to help children growing up in troubled households, and with physical defects, to grow up normally. As far as can tell from a little research, he grew up with a single mother, and had a stutter which he was bullied for.

    God bless you Steve Kerr, it’s wild how so many people have these sorts of platforms to speak out, who happen to have millions of followers.. but it’s always just swept under the rug. Leave it up to a coach to truly speak out against the tragedies that have plagued our countries. Honestly this is America’s history in a nutshell, nothing but being swept under the rug constantly. It’s not just the US, but globally it’s become more and more of a NORM… truly dark/sad times we’re living in

    Sure, a certain group of politicians just love to see kids murdered in schools (sarcasm) . You're delusional, just because someone disagrees on let's say gun laws does not mean they don't actively fight for the safety of our children. Stop repeating the same old talking points and turning this into a political thing. The families impacted were from both sides of aisle. This isn't one side or the other, all Americans want to see this resolved, but it isn't "support your exact view on gun legislation or you're evil"

    One has nothing to do with the other. You can support an unborn child's right to life and believe that the legislation that Kerr is calling for will be ineffective. And by the way, the media is conveniently not reporting that less than two years ago, Kerr led a successful movement to get police taken out of schools in Oakland, one of the most violent cities in the country. Imagine if even one cop had been at that school in Uvalde.
