Yes luckily lots of the Aussies were close to retirement so it gave the English a chance, the following series wasn't as close as the Aussies put a bit more effort in winning the series 5-0 🤣🤣🤣

Ponting was one of the toughest batsman of all time and at this moment in time Harmison was one of the best fast bowlers in the world ...the bounce that he extracts is remarkable

Certainly the best ashes series I've ever had the pleasure to watch, well done England we'll get you this year.

Because of this series alone, I am still stuck in 2005. First the tri-nation ODI series. Then this - A big historical series between the two of the fiercest arch rival. The middle of the monsoon season, admissions going on for few months, a whole lot of time to enjoy this series of 2005, make memories & moments to remember & cherish.

Rohanji, Ashes was played in the past with a lot of zest and zeal and the bitterness was palpable. Both sides had hot headed fighters like Flintoff, Brett Lee , Johnson etc.,. Now the players on both sides are level headed and less hostile. More over, with the advent of global tournaments like IPL, players from both countries are playing for the same franchise resulting in bonhomie. I still recall the Ashes played in the early 70's when the likes of Dennes Amiss, Mike Dennis and John Edrich were suffered body blows all over the body , especially on knuckles and fingers , at the hands of Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson and had to be hospitalized . Such was the rivalry and animosity between the sides.

This Australian team gets a lot of hate just because they were competitive and carried the mentality of winning at any cost. I hated them myself but as I look at them now I can’t help but respect that team. It will take a long time for any team to do what that team did

Arwin 2004 i think u don’t watch cricket , u don’t remember ponting grounded a catch still appealing in slips against saurav ganguly , ur beloved symond clearly edges the ball and stand still on the wicket and wait for bucknor to give not out. Many such instances are there where u Aussies supporter turns blind-eye.

Ashes 2005 was one of the best tournament I have ever watched Simon Jones , Flintoff and Pietersen's batting especially against Brett Lee were best in this tournament.

Its important to remember this was before Philip Hughes was killed.

Probably my most fav series of all time. Still remember how Aussies trounced England in 89, and from thereon it was the same story one Ashes after another. Until 2005. Finally, after nearly two decades, England had an eleven that could go toe to toe in a war of attrition versus the Aussies. and What a series this was. Memorable. Unforgettable!

Not easy to act normal in such pain. It requires mental toughness.

I remember each and every single ball from this series. This was the finest series ever contested between any two cricketing nations. What hostile bowling by Harmison.

The greatest test series I have watched in my life so far..the quality of cricket played was of another level...

Good clip but why label it "Brutal opening Spell" and only show us "brutal" ball from Harmisson to Ponting after which he gets hit for 4 then a break then he gets out. "Live coverage" means that we get 6 straight minutes of waiting for Ponting to get ready compared to 3 balls total.

This was also the best series of all times I have watched full series,flintoff was hero of this series.

This is the cricket we 90s kid always say is missing right now. There is no aggression, playing mind games with opponent, showing character, being ruthless, standing and facing 150kph+ bouncers. Damnnn it, this cricket was pure class.

Shane Warne's spin to Andrew Strauss is the finest spin ball in the history of cricket ?? No, Don't think so. In 1993 Ashes, the ball to Mike Gatting was beast, that's why GATTING BALL is the BALL OF THE CENTURY. No doubt, Ashes 2005 was class A+ cricket.

After seeing 2005 ashes highlights and knowing about australian dominance, I am still feeling that why I had not been in that era to watch live ashes 2005. I was 6 years old @2005 and don't know about cricket much then. Watching such matches live is a great feeling, second to nothing.

Now in 2021, when I see this video,I remember was watching this series live in 2005!

Harmison is one of my favourite bowler, he is tall and can hit the pitch hard, unfortunately he couldn’t prove himself as one of the worlds best bowlers....

One of the greatest series of all times! Simon Jones was one bowler who I thought would go on to take 300 test wickets for England. As it turned out, he played tests for only a couple of years and barely 20 games..a big loss.

2005 Ashes was T20 match in every session.. Best cricket tournament so far..

I loved his first ball of the 2007 series.

Those were the golden days of world cricket

This was a great series.

Looking at the team chart at 2:31, the quality of players in that Australian lineup and to know England still beat them 2-1 in that series, is, I think, a massive achievement.

He probably wanted to shout up to the balcony "you fucking cheats"!

Even though we lost this test, I think this was such an important spell. It set the tone that we weren’t going to be bullied by Australia and that we were just as aggressive as them

Harmison with such height and pace and with that line n length was terrific.

Usually one feels bad for a batsman hit on the head and injured, its just somehow satisfying to see when it happens to Ponting.
