Steve Harmison's Brutal Opening Spell To Ricky Ponting | 1st Morning Of 2005 Ashes - Live Coverage

Спорт

Everyone remembers the series, and everyone remembers how it started. A packed house at Lord's witnessed the infamous moment when Steve Harmison struck Ricky Ponting on the helmet, drawing blood from the gutsy Aussie skipper. That alone was hardly likely to stop a player like Ponting, but Harmison continued to bowl superbly, and removed Australia's captain soon after.

Rohanji, Ashes was played in the past with a lot of zest and zeal and the bitterness was palpable. Both sides had hot headed fighters like Flintoff, Brett Lee , Johnson etc.,. Now the players on both sides are level headed and less hostile. More over, with the advent of global tournaments like IPL, players from both countries are playing for the same franchise resulting in bonhomie. I still recall the Ashes played in the early 70's when the likes of Dennes Amiss, Mike Dennis and John Edrich were suffered body blows all over the body , especially on knuckles and fingers , at the hands of Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson and had to be hospitalized . Such was the rivalry and animosity between the sides.

Australia doesn't have the population to defend herself. When somebody does invade you lot, you'll surrender like the cowards you well and truly are.
