Originally Recorded 12/23/2016 (Yes, more than a year ago)
This is a redo recording of Mitchell's classic M-5. I actually recorded this one back when I did Paoli's Hornet with Chris and Nick. We found out we had extra time after Paoli's test. So, we rushed up to Mitchell which tests a half hour later, at 12:30 each Friday.
But once we arrived...silence. We called the Mitchell PD, and they said it was the county's turn to test. So we called Lawrence County, and they said it was Mitchell PD's turn to test. Apparently the county was going to be taking full control of Mitchell's sirens, but no one knew when. Confused, we asked a city cop who just happened to pass by. He said he'd figure it out for us, so he rolled up his window, and drove back to the station nearby. A few minutes passed...still nothing. Maybe this was a waste of time. Then, the same cop blasted the air horn tone on his siren to get our attention. That was our thumbs up. Moments later, we got some really quick DTMF tones, and the siren activated.
Much like other recordings, it still has a major vibration problem. But it does sound nice, and healthy for its age, so I'll give em' that.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

Ah yes, you re-recorded it :) last time it was blowing snow chunks out :) very nice to see it still kicking 👍👍👍
When I listen to this video with headphones, It sounds like I’m really there.
A local fire station in my area used to use one. They have since switched to a Model 7 and the old one is now basically a lawn ordiment on top of the fire stations sign.
You can tell from the way the top amplifiers are one is tilted on the side and the other is either straight or tilting the other way
Wow! This siren was manufactured around 1910 and it's still kicking! Now that's how you use a siren. Also, nice profile picture, I thought it was a speaker and not a 508, lol

Holy, it’s mounted HIGH.
NOW thats what i call a siren!
Dec 29, 2012. I remember it shook real bad and kept eating snow.
Always wanted to hear one of these go off since all of them near me are rusted and dead.
I didn’t even know these things could do fast wail
Quick question. Do you know if Sellersburg has any Tornado Sirens?

Yes, I think they have 2001s. There's a statewide map that I have links to on my newer videos. Just be aware it does take awhile to load.

How do you tell the difference between an M-5 and an M-10?

An M-10 looks like a cannon and the M-5 looks like a HOR Super Si-Rex if it didn't rotate

An M-5 has a slightly lower pitch and slower windup

When’s the new format arriving? I’ve been looking forward to it for a while and just noticed your new profile pic... is that the inside of a 508?

Yup, you've got it. It's a 508. I've been experimenting on different logo ideas lately, so we'll so how this one goes. I'm hoping to get the new format revealed by the end of this month. I just need to get a few videos up that still have the old intro. Sadly, I've been pretty busy lately so I haven't gotten them up as soon as I thought I could.

It's a 508 horn. The old 20V2T pic I had was, well...getting kinda old lol. So I've been experimenting on new ideas.

You should've kept the 20V2T picture since it was the extremely rare square horn one
