Great unboxing vid my brother. I have played this bass also at Guitar Center a few times through a Peavey amplifier and the sound was off the chain,. I tried it through a fender amp but the better sound came from the Peavey amp, so i will be getting that bass shortly to go along with my Marcus Miller and Squire Fender Jazz bass. For the price you can’t go wrong, and the sound is good right out the box for me. I know it will sound even better after my man do his thing to enhance the bass. Keep up the good work my brother great video.

Hey Bully, Of course you already know this. But the sub 4 is a great mod platform. I bought the "Mint O Ray". She is dope. Hot & spicy right out the chute. You can create a lot of bass options, by modding it, with this little beast. Choose your options by what you want to accomplish and install. Prepare yourself to be creative. That's all you got to know. Ya'll keep it easy ✌️😎

I just picked up one of these Ray4’s. Decent bass for the money but I’m throwing in the Bart pickup and John East pre. By the way, I just did my first pickup install after watching your P Bass pickup install video. Picked up a soldering iron today and it turned out great.

Good review Allen, and good playing too. You know I have the 5 string model and every time I think I should change something on it, I'll gig it and destroy the gig. I own 3 different sterlings so moding my sub would be useless to me. I enjoy your channel, keep bringing great content, peace and happy new year.

Funky Sounds awesome

I picked up one of these about 10 years ago to get me back into playing after a long sabbatical from playing. Mine is a well made, powerful instrument and has always been good. For most of those years I was playing gospel and worship music. But after 10 years the the electronics are starting to give me problems. I don't play it as much as I use to because my Hagstrom Viking has become my main bass. For me the Viking places my left hand and wrist in a better position making playing a lot easier.

I do have that bass but I use GHS boomers lights I put in the Aguilar humbucker and the opt3/ preamp it’s a monster now😎🎸🌈

I just got one on Reverb, but it hasn't arrived yet. I have a Bartolini pickup to go into it, and depending on how much room is under the the control plate - a Bartolini 2-band preamp with passive tone control. I know - I'm addicted to gear. Maybe there's a 12 step program out there somewhere for musicians.................

Ha I have a Stingray Classic and I wish they'd put a decent battery compartment and cover on the back instead of a four screw (non recessed) metal plate on the back!

6:26 I think that get's the most classic Stingray tone out of it.

I have this bass along with several other Music Man basses. I love how this plays but it distorts unlike my others. I assume it’s due to cheap pickup? I wish they would make the Sterling 34 with the thinner neck like what’s on the sub.

You need to lower the pickup down some to keep from distorting so bad. I have the same Bass but in mint green

Do a Bass Collection Video Next

Just picked up one of these a few months ago. First impressions are good, but I can definitely tell that the bass I have at least needs some fret work. The ends are pretty sharp and I have some decent string buzz going on. Might have to get a set up down and maybe get some fret work done. Are these things easy to do at home? I am fairly capable just have never attempted the work or really looked into it.

Got the same bass, just in a different color, the mint green with white pickguard. Along with my to Musicman Bongos.......

It sounds like that stock pickup is defective. One of the coils is dead. I split the coils on my bass and thats what it sounds like in single coil mode

Folks how is the weight on these Stingrays? I am looking to get a bass so I can back up our church bassist if he’s ever unavailable. I have arthritis in my left shoulder so I can only play light guitars around 7 pounds or less. Been looking at the Ibanez Soundgears but I love the look of the Stingray.

Lightest one I've seen online was 7.75 lbs, but most are in the 9 lb range, hope that helps ya

Cool bass. I bought the "Mint O Ray" after Lobster modded it with a Delano & a dark glass capsule. It is a good bones bass. Just a warning. That Sub 4 bass is ssssnAPPyyyy. That maple neck makes that happen for you. But I was just noticing something. Is that a BTK5 in the background? Oh man. If it is... I don't quite know what you need all those other basses for. I'm just sayin'. Peace.

Just bought the same bass. Dark blue with the black pick gaurd. Any recommendations for the poor man's upgrade? I've been out of the game for 5 years and I'm excited to get back into it. I'm a funk/rock guy but I put it on lay away for a week and was listening to some motown to hype myself up bc the walks are on point and I feel it's important to stay versatile. It broke my heart when you said it's not a motown bass. Anyway given my aforementioned stats on my style and my ambitious p.o.v. anyone have some reconditions for pick ups and strings for my goals? Ty ahead ahead of time. It's about time I got my grove back.

Uhhhh... that's two different basses like style wise... but I'll say the v3 might be more versatile than the sub

The bass sounds like it’s only on the rear coils of the humbucker pickup. Both coils of the humbucker pickup aren’t working. I am played enough Sub ray 4, and American Musicman Stingrays to know.

Bully love your channel, however my brother you should definitely practice a lot more..your timing is off,often....i own the original music man stingray 5 bass.2005 version..i bought it in 2018 in excellent condition, paid 1025.00dollars
