Great video mate. I'm lucky to get 30mpg I average 27mpg but I use VTEC a lot lol. Mine revs to 8600 with its raised rev limiter and with regular oil changes using good oil it's no big problem. There's something special about type r's and VTEC that other cars can't replicate ( for me anyway)

When the I vetec kicks in sounds very humble 😀 I just got a mk 8 07 I like the car quite a bit I will next pickup the pioneer system you have but what model is it?

I got 19inch tires are very thin but have no issues with the ride but on pot holes can leave marks on rim.

cool video man ! Do the stereo controls on the steering wheel still work with the after market stereo ? by the way same issue with the car tax in Greece as well , at least insurance is half of what you pay.

Such a beaut car! I just have the SI model and the only fault I have is a persistent squeaky clutch, so annoying but nothing a bit of grease can't sort every couple of months.

The "beep" is morse code for letter H- Honda. I like it in mine 😉

I swear i taX and insure mine for half that in Scotland, comes in under £70 a month, that's unreal!

I've the same head unit in my Alfa GT, but I went for the MVH variant. M meaning mechless, as in having no CD/DVD slot. Now my car's a lot less cluttered with all those CD's gone out the glovebox. I concur though. It is a great piece of kit..!

I'm very happy with it George Falls, like i said I've no idea why someone would buy the Honda unit as it is so dated now, with no USB or Bluetooth for your phone.

@Stavros969 how did you manage to tint the rear window on the civic underneath part ?

I also had sticking calipers on both my ep3 and fn2. Both times bought second hand ones off eBay for around £40 a time, brand new they're expensive as you paid.

Yep, had sticking brake calipers, sticky reverse linkage and a leaky boot (& lights)! Solid car though

Changing an fm2 ice is like building a frokkin ark.

Get a short shifter fitted. Shorter gear change. I love mine 👍

I would recommend it for sure Dave's Game Room just make sure the USB cable is also fitted and going into the glovebox, cheer's.

I'm sorry mate but tax and insurance is not the car's problem. The Irish government are to blame for the price of your tax and they are also to blame for your insurance because insurance companies here have been going wild with their quotes and the government are rolling over and doing nothing about it. My insurance is almost 1,000 euro on a 1.4 corolla.

Hi! Nice vidéo! I just fitted an after market head unit in mine, with the connects2 kit. Do you use the same? If so, does it maintain the dimming fonctionnality of the ac/clock screen? Mine doesn't and it's really annoying! thanks

Mine didn't either floflolapin and i also couldn't adjust the time on the display.

Have you checked the paint on the roof at the front where the rubber meets the windscreen? Mine had blemishes and bubbles in the paint, which I was told was an indicator of rust coming from the inside. Turned out to be true and the culprit was a design flaw in rubber between the roof and the front windscreen. The rubber was retaining water. Ended up getting the whole car resprayed by Ace Autobody. It just would have looked odd with only the roof getting treated with a brand new coat and the rest all faded.

Thanks bus23054 for letting me know. Mine is not so bad at the moment as it had a respray a couple of year's ago. I know exactly what your talking about though as my one had those little bubble marks too, it's still not perfect even now but i'll live with it for another while, cheer's.

Just bought a Honda Civic type s 2011 always wanted one but was a ford man then my wee fez s1600 got killed by a women driver 😠would have got the r but my insurance is killing me just now am dying to start modding it and will be getting one of those stereo systems but do you were is the best place to buy mods for them. Didn't no if I was going to tint the windows but defo now looks smart on your car and 19s your spot on to big uncomfortable murder on pot holes 18s am putting on mine. Nice video anyway man one of just a few I have seen about the Honda. Gave me good information 👍🏽

Hi I'm wondering if you could help. My mates car is playing up. The dash clock has screen burn and the lights go off on the radio and the speakers make a loud pop now and again. Is it the clock at the top that needs replacing.

If the car is hard to get into gear you need to change the gearbox oil, the type r is very sensitive to rough oils.

Headunit is nice , but sod selling that with the car tho. I would be having the original on standby to put back.

I get 25mpg. that extra 5 you need a motorway for. My car had 19" wheels. It didn't make it ride much worse. It made the understeer worse. The biggest problem was Tyre price's. They're £160 each. I bought smaller wheels. I bought four new tyres for less than two fronts.

Ride wise, it wasn't much worse. It's living in constant fear any bump would smash your wheel. 35 profile tyre :( Thanks for the reply

Did you manage to get the stereo buttons on the sweering wheel to work on your stereo unit? I installed an JVC modell whit all the connectors and the special one for the steering wheel but nothing happens?

Hope it works for you, the only thing i could not change on the display on the top of the dashboard (Not the Pioneer Unit) was the date and time, but i didn't care too much about that anyway.

Well, I am 28, I drive a Type S 1.8 and my first year insurance was 2500 Pounds. 2500 for 1 year !!!!!!! Crazy yeah, but this car is in my heart. I would pay even double, I don't care, I just want to drive it and enjoy it!

I really want to do this but buying a stereo system with no great feeling volume knob seems like a terrible decision.

You can mount a steering stalk control unit kit between the stock wires and the new hu wires, that way the volume button on the steering wheel will still function 😉

For that price that you've paid for the caliper with a bit more you could have upgrade the front breaks

In Estonia 2008 fn2 insurance is 100 euros year and extra insurance 300 euos

Where i found this ?

when i bought my fn2, i wanted 1 with all the tools as standard, so i got an fn2 gt with sat nav and hft. after 6 months or so i wish i had a normal gt, the extra screen is great, and looks good but that is where it ends. you get so much more if you buy a normal gt and then add the double din like stav did. stav you say 30mpg?!?!?!? i wish buddy, around town im at 21mpg, motorway say about 27, although when i went down 2 silverstone last year for the gp, in an average speed camera zone of 40mph for about 20 miles, i did see 39mpg. having said that, that is with some mods, milltek non res and a hks rsk intake. but hey i didnt buy a type r 2 worry about fuel costs. can i ask stav, your rear windows are tinted? how did you tint the rear plastic window beneath the spoiler? most places near me wont touch that screen. keep up the good work bud!

Hi chairmitch thanks for your comment, the small lower screen at the back of the car is covered by a black sticker, and not tinted as the tint would not hold properly on that plastic lower window. This solution would not be for everyone though as you can't see out through it, cheer's.

Im looking to buy one of these next week, do you guys think its worth it? I will also put that screen in instead of the boring original stereo. Ofc I will have to test drive and see for myself but im quite excited about the vtec etc and it will be my first car aswell (I dont know much about cars overall). But here in Sweden its not that expensive to insurance and for the tax, its actually the cheapest to insure apart from the other cars ive been looking at

Yeah - on a sunny day you will see the full display, the rest of the time half will go missing! :P

You didn't need to change the calipers. Just get them refurbished or do it yourself and grease the sliders and put a new pisten seal kit in. Fraction of the price of new calipers.

Anyone changed the headunit in one with sat nav built in all help welcome

how did you tint the lower portion of the rear window, the plastic part below the spoiler. From what I've read it can't be tinted.

Visibility is bad for sure Shaun Marshall it was just something the window tinting people suggested doing, as the normal tinting film will not stick properly to that plastic panel.

I don’t like the other stereos.

The reverse thing, that's a HONDA problem, every fucking Honda that has the Reverse in that position does that. Had a shitty 1.4 in 2000's and it did exactly that, but it barely fits annoying, just a dumb trait of apparently all hondas.

I'm a civic fan but wtf is this Irish goggle eyed leprechaun on about hehehe...
