    Yes and no. Spurs desperately need defenders so he'd be nice in that regard, but they also desperately need shooters and he's a poor shooter so that would continue to hurt spacing around Wemby.

    Do think the Spurs take him with the 4th Pick though if he's on the board.

    @@bballer191 - There aren't a lot of shooters in this draft. Most of the "shooters" are actually just "projected shooters" like Buzelis that people think can grow into their shot. The few people that are legitimate shooters day 1 all have substantial defensive deficiencies (Dillingham, Sheppard, Knecht). So I'm not sure if they're going to find a guy that can shoot NOW and defend NOW. If that guy existed he probably goes #1 anyway in this weak draft. So the question is this: do they see a guy like Castle, whose defense is excellent, and think "we can fix his shot". During the 3 pt drill at the combine he was very good after all. Or do they look at a guy like Sheppard or Dillingham and think, "we could teach him defense." That is likely what this draft hinges on.

    @@colin1818 Exactly everyone of this prospects have major weaknesses to their game. Do the Spurs want to get offense or defense in this draft. Castle has he work ethic to get better so i dont see any reason he cant improve his shooting in the NBA. Thats the kind of player you want on your team. He is a competitor and does whatever it takes to win.

    Castle is a mix of Isaac Okoro and Cason Wallace. If the Hornets keep Bridges, they need a defensive stopper/offense connector in the starting lineup. Castle would fit well here while he develops his 3 ball.

    To compare S.Castle with current or past nba is not fair in my opinion...because hard work and common sense is still one of his best qualities he has...not to mention if you listen to his parents...the young man still has chores to do at home...which speaks volumes about his character...great job parents ❤❤❤

    I was really waiting on this video because Castle is the only top prospect I kinda just don’t get. I don’t see the long term potential that everyone’s talking about and even when I watch film I just see a real good to solid basketball player. Which ofc is not bad but people are telling me he could be more than that but I just can’t see it. So I can’t wait to get into this one

    Think you’re underrating his PG skill would challenge you to watch his HS and USA tape , he’s at his core is a true point … Newton was in that role and forced him off the ball which shows his role adaptability. Cam Whitmore is his closest young comp and we saw how his shooting improved in throughout the season.

    But he didn't flash that kind of vision. Ben Simmons didn't play PG at LSU but the passing vision and creativity jumped off the screen. Plus it's hard to be an on ball creator if you can't shoot. He's probably closer to a Jimmy Butler type who can function as an atypical primary option and can do what I call paint-by-numbers PnR playmaking where he knows his reads and can make the necessary passes, but he's not going to paint outside the numbers to create scoring opportunities out of thin air the way the true PG like Luka, Trae, LaMelo, Jokic or Hali do. And he's also not a caretaker type who can play both on ball or off like Conley or Garland (because he he's not a knockdown shooter).

    @@michaelahurt i disagree they ran that special horns play everyone was talking about. It was specifically castle to clingan one handed pass to the corner. Also if you watch Mastas Buzeilus interview with JJ he talks about how great of a passer he is. There’s countless examples of vision on the tape. He just wasn’t high usage because of style of play.

  • @michaelahurt

    @michaelahurt

    @@mauricegibson599 I don’t think you understand what I mean by vision. You’re talking about floor mapping. Knowing where your guys are. Vision is more like seeing the future. Jokic is the easiest example but like 3 times per game you have to rewind because he made a pass that you didn’t see. Castle _is_ a good passer but there are different kinds of passing. He’s a little like Cade as a passer. His passing Rolodex is very large but he’s not super creative. LeBron is like that. And Tatum. And Russ. And Butler. But you need to think of shooting, rim pressure and passing as a trinity. In order to activate the passing you need to be able to pull the defense either out towards you (like Cade or Steph or Luka) or in towards the paint (like Bron or Luka or Russ) to create passing windows And the really high level playmakers will also create their own passing windows because they know how the defense will react and that a passing window will open even though they can’t see it. (That’s vision; the ability to see the future. Like a visionary.) It’s what Magic did and Nash and Kidd. I’ve watched a lot Castle tape and his assists just aren’t that. He’s not a LaMelo, Magic, Bird - I’m just not sure what you’re watching if you’re seeing that

    question: why don’t you judge a prospect on positional versatile? what makes bron, giannis, luka, shai so amazing is how many positions they can play. AD was such a great prospect cuz he could play PF or center. you can create a lot more line up combos with a player like castle than a zack lavine since he can play and defend the 1,2& 3. i actually think their are 9 types of players. there is a 1, 2,3,4&5. then their is a -1, a short guy who can play PG (GP the 2nd). there is a +1. a big PG who can play other positions (luka, shai, bron, cade, etc) a wing (1 guy who can play the 2 or 3 like KD) a combo forward (guys like KD and OG who can play the 3 or 4) a Big (wemby, chet, al horford who can play the 4 or 5) the most positions a guy can play or guard the more valuable. in theory you want cade cunningham over devin booker. big point guards and big men who can play 4 & 5 are the most rare and valued commodities. it’s why bron and AD are so great. it’s so much easier to build a quality line up since they are super versatile

    if you a perimeter player then you are either a primary scorer, primary ball handler or a 3 and D. castle can handle the ball but can he become scottie pippen, let alone Luka Doncic? castle can score but can he become zach lavine let alone kobe? castle can play d but can he 3? thus he is an interesting prospect. he has enough tools and skills that if he fixes his flaws he can be a legit star player with size and positional versatility but if he doesn’t then he a career back up or a very flawed starter.
