@@frankfrank6631 Seen matches with even bigger gaps be turned around and won. Think about it, he fights for the frame gets the snooker, respotted black, wins the frame, 12-9.. Next frame gets a good run of the balls, 12-10.. Gilbert is suddenly feeling the pressure & not playing the same, 12-11... He's suddenly 1 frame behind, after something like 45 minutes. I've seen it happen so many times. Was very disappointed to see him not even attempt the safety shot or snooker on the green even if he was hampered by the pink.

@frankfrank at least continue playing and try for a few snookers/ see what develops , it would kill me looking back and wondering what if in this frame. It’s also very unsporting and not respecting the gravity of the tournament either imho.

Snooker is unpredictable at times so Maguire could of won but nothing is ever certain in snooker.
He’s not retiring especially with the amount of money that’s away to start pouring in the game.
He wouldn't be able to afford to retire.
