Well done Kyren, comes across as a great bloke, loves his family, so nice to see him acknowledge all his parents sacrifices and he finally gets to pay them back. Worthy winner

He has probably earned enough money before this to pay them back already. He has been a top 16 player for last 6 or 7 years. Just winning it and being world champion is the ultimate payback and the reason they sacrificed.

@gamblinggod960 Yes that's what I meant when I said about paying them back mate. I wasn't talking financially, I was referring to the fact that he's world champion, how that made all their sacrifices worth it. As you say he's been a top player for a while now and he's earned decent money through prizes and sponsorship, endorsement deals etc. I saw an interview with him at home a few years ago and his house is very nice with a full size snooker table and a couple of decent cars in the drive,so I'm sure as you say ,financially he's been able to pay them back a few years ago ( that's even if they wanted it back,he is their son so as parents they've supported him for love and not money ) But the real payback is to show them that it was all worth it,he's now a world champion and every sacrifice was more than worth it

I've always said technically he's one of the best in the world with the potential to be the best. I've just always questioned if or not he had that killer instinct to win that makes a real champion. I still do question it to some degree but I hope he goes on from this. @@gordoncockfield It's a known issue with him, this is why he's seen therapists. He's almost too much of a nice guy to be a prolific champion. He cried when he went through on a fluke against McGill. Very nice, but if that was Hendy or O'Sullivan they put their hands up to apologise but inside they're laughing their fucking arses off about it. He needs to be more stone cold killer type to emulate what previous people with his natural ability have done

Reminds me of the year Neil Robertson won the title. Neil's run that year was: Fergal O'Brien, Martin Gould, Steve Davis, Ali Carter, Graeme Dott ... not the trickiest run, took advantage of his opponents where he could and he stayed relatively fresh throughout (beat Davis early, quick first round match etc) Kyren's run was Dominic Dale, Joe O'Connor, John Higgins, Dave Gilbert, Jak Jones so a very similar run. He was helped immensely by having the easiest opponent possible in the first round (no offence to Dom... he's not the same player that he was) and he was still very fresh by the time he played Higgins who had only just scraped past Mark Allen 13-12.

I saw Kyren play in a leisure centre in Barnsley with a £10 half-day ticket a few years ago. While my gf and friend were securing seats to see Ronnie play I was watching Wilson on a side table- I forget who he was playing. He made a break of 140. When I got back to my seat, I told my gf that Kyren would be world champion one day. Yesterday he stopped me being a liar!

Everyone needs a bit of luck in their career, well Wilson has had a careers worth the past 2wks, barring the Higgins match (even he's not the player he was) his run has to be the easiest I've ever saw in nearly 40yrs of watching it! I watched all his matches & the amount of times he missed when in & wasn't punished was hard to believe, he even made hard work of this after goin 7-0 up on Jones who was absolutely shattered after Saturday night & his extra 2 qualifying matches! Fair play to him this was the trophy he wanted & proved that hardwork pays off when u don't have natural talent. His cue action is very unnatural & robotic, just not so easy on the eye! A bizarre Championship with 12th in the world being highest ranked of the Semifinal lineup!

I'm very happy for Kyren, he deserves it, but he was also incredibly lucky to get Jak Jones in the final, who let's face it, is sightly above amateur level as a player and just played the tournament of his life. Yet Kyren beat him 18-14 after leading 7-0 and Jak doing a season worth of unexpected downright amateur errors, which Kyren failed to capitilize on. He's definitelly lucky Ronnie couldn't find his game in this tournament because if it was him in the final, it would've been a different story.

Nonsense to say someone’s who reached the final is slightly above amateur.

Ronnie isnt a consistent WC winner. He only won 2 back to back. When he’s on form of course he’ll usually win it.

@@johnmc3862 Jak Jones is 30 years old, and he had one ranking quarter final before this year's world championship. He has won less than half of his career professional matches and his break building stats are abysmal... So yes, he is slightly above amateur level, which still makes him a pro player, but a very, very unimpressive one. Like i said, he played the tournament of his life, but he was extremely lucky that none of his oponents before the final showed their best form, they were all struggling. Even Kyren Wilson didn't play very good and was leaving him way too many chances, yet he still beat him. Seriously, if you're going to defend him, watch the matches first. Not all finalists are deserved ones all the time, get that into your thick skull.

If you aren't there for ride then don't be there when i park. Sounds like Kyren's got a solid family around him.

Well done. Happy for him. Wanted Ronnie, but it wasn't to be. Wilson seems like a decent guy. All the best man.
