Stephen Lawrence’s father revisits spot where his son was murdered 25 years ago | ITV News

The father of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence has revisited the spot in south east London where his son was killed 25 years ago.
A quarter of a century on, returning to the scene in Eltham is so emotionally draining for Neville Lawrence it is the only visit he will make to mark the anniversary.

A message to Neville Lawrence,,,,,,,,,,,,, Bot you and Mrs Lawrence touched the hearts of almost everyone in the UK. Every time I was taking a holiday in a mate's lorry, he moment the subject of Stephen came on "Radio 1", the talking stopped. The volume of the radio in the cab was turned up and every word was listened to, for the wanting for progress in the case. That was the impact your campaigning had as both you and Doreen refused "outright" that your Stephen's life would simply be a statistic. Neville and Doreen, at that time you were both part of our pride, determination and dreams. You made you wonderful son a household name.

John Moore, thank you so much for the reply,,,,,,,,,,, I use a "comedy" name as I,ve been hacked a while ago now. John every word is TRUE. Yes it,s heartbreaking even today. My mate was a "90's larger lout" and we used to mess around punching each other and making up jokes. the moment Stephen Lawrance's name was mentioned he'd turn up the volume on the radio and we would listen to every word. John, it would take a short while to revert back to our "stupidity". I can't describe it !!!! ----- But Stephen's name became ceremonious with the clear fact that he was an individual and his loving parents made him into an ambassador who stood for the clear division between the concept of "RIGHT" and "WRONG" . ------ Because there is no question that he became not only a "household name" but I remember 10 years ago asking a young girl who had left school "who" he was ? And she told me in general terms. She had studied the topic in her school. Neville amd Doreen Lawrence HAVE to be REMARKABLE people. John, my friend,,,,, they "took on the system" and they WON STEPHEN LAWRENCE IS A NATIONAL TREASURE. Thanks for reading.

So deeply moving no father should have to go through this and racism is so unnecessary. The Lawrence family have shown such bravery and courage particularly back in 1993, when the police force were highly racist and were society had a lot of learning to do. I come from a mixed race family and everyone of my relatives is mixed in some shape or form but I often think to myself, I could’ve easily been one of my brothers even the thought of it is upsetting so I can’t imagine the pain and suffering this family must be going through every day. Black lives matter! Xx

You most insensitive soul; clearly you have no sense of the pain Steven's death caused....... Yes there have been others but none so tarnished by the systematic effort by the police to shroud the truth of what should have been an open and shut case had the authorities cooperated from the very start...... Mr Lawrence, I hear your Afro Caribbean voice, I'm sixty of the same background. It is approaching 10 years since poor health nearly took my life. It is not easy for anyone, any culture to understand what others see. We are not just a colour but an event, the scars still visible today. Unfortunately others see the scars and I at least accept we as Afro Caribbean's are very different. This difference is disliked by some. I've learned to control my breathing to merge with that which does not like me, pain recognition stretching (yoga) has the same effect. Two consequences of merging is humour and speed. A consequence of humour and speed, is humility. America is arguably the most powerful country in the world, but what is its origins. Humanity has to learn it is not liked, fuelling the worst of our behaviour. This behaviour is based on freedom from a higher power and intelligence, by the natural human activity of religion - prayer and praise of God. Back to your words, you and much of humanity forgets the bigger picture. Forgetting the bigger picture loses the ability to shine a light on the darkness of man's behaviour. Humanity is not liked, eBook series 'Religion Separates Man From God.'

This is an awful tragedy but I do feel this has had enough air time. After 25 years it's time to let it lie. The parents family and friends will always hurt but there have been over 50 young people of different races killed and not solved in London this year. Why don't they have a plaque on the street they were killed on? No disrespect but what makes Stephen's life any more important or special as any other young person killed? Any life lost no matter if you're black white Muslim Jew should be celebrated as much as Stephen's but it's not. this is what aggravates me. 50 families lives of all cultures have been ripped apart but we won't hear anymore about them other than in government statistics. Why?
