    @@rhythmofc5598 the power of your shoot and the initial boost comes from the base brother, meaning your hips. Its not all about upper body strength just bc hes using his arms to shoot the ball. Its called a jumpshot for a reason. That “jump” makes the difference from getting the ball in the basket or just hitting rim from deep. Thats legs bro. Not all upperbody. Just saying. If upperbody strength alone was a factor in shooting then most big men would be better shooters no? Strongest in the game lol. Its his hand placement, release, lower body and upper body. All in synergy. Rare player. No real way to pin point the reason why hes so nice. Some people just have it. He has it. Your dad being a former NBA player probably helps too. Had those boys training since knee high lol. Cheers

    @@swaveyion9453 i know what im talking about, just try to shoot like Curry, he brings it Up first which takes alot away from the Power you get from going Up with solid base. He has exceptionall upper body strenght thats why he is so quick with release etc.

    You can really see the teamwork in slow motion, it’s not all just Curry, the team is working together to get the points, there’s a connection between people in the passes. Also I see how hard the guards are trying to guard him they are really doing their best and it’s not working he is still getting points.

    what curry does which is so beautiful and unlike 99.99% of every other player ever is there is no pause in the shot. unlike vince, durant, jordan, kobe, etc who bring the ball up to the forehead and then begin the release, his shot starts low and continues its trajectory in one fluid motion. it’s what helps create the arch on the ball. until he came along we didn’t know what perfect form looked like. we thought we did but we didn’t.

    Couple things I noticed: -he fully extends his shooting arm for good power -he separates his hand that goes on the side of the ball right before it come out of his shooting hand to keep the ball from going side to side -he also starts with the ball a few inches away from his face for more power -his wrist is smooth and the ball smoothly comes off his fingers for a clean shot -his shooting hand comes from the side of the ball to underneath the ball right as he comes up to shoot the ball I hoped this helped but it is just a few things I noticed about his shot that some people don’t do and this could increase your shooting Edit: GOB FG also said he releases mainly with his middle finger and ring finger Edit 2💀: go check out one of the replies, they explain it better than I do

    He also does a little bit of a thumb flick with his guide hand

  • @omgapotatoe

    @omgapotatoe

    2 жыл бұрын

    His power is mainly the flick of his wrist. The extension of the elbow is the follow through. Kinda like how a golfer doesn't stop their swing when they hit the ball. Watch closely how fast his wrist flicks compared to the rest of his release. Compare his flick to other shooters and you'll notice a huge difference. His is double the speed and he points straight down every time. His shot line is over his right eye. You can tell he favors his right side by his slight head tilt(tilts to the left), angled shoulders to the basket(right shoulder slightly forward), and momentum rotating counter clockwise. This allows him to have more accuracy and consistency in his shot. He starts his shot with his shooting arm bent at roughly a 90 degree angle and it stays like that until his release. This removes any excess momentum when he brings up the ball to his shooting pocket. This allows the ball to travel in one fluent motion(think of the ball going straight up, then straight out). This also allows him to have a much quicker release since the ball doesn't travel as much from catching to shooting. Despite not jumping high, Steph jumps with a "pop" similar to how he generates more power by flicking his wrist harder. So even though it's not high, his jump is very quick. The source of power is being able to time his quick jump with a proper release. Probably the most difficult part of his shooting form. Another reason Steph shoots close to his face is for accuracy as well as power. If you've ever tried shooting mid range shots with one hand, you'll quickly realise you don't have enough power or accuracy if the ball is positioned far above or below your head. Your face is the perfect position to generate enough power while not sacrificing accuracy.

    It's almost impossible to stop this guy with a distraction because he has incredible intuition with his release and the range of the basket. Notice how the ball crosses his line of vision before the release. He automatically knows the amount of spin and effort he needs to apply when he sets his eye on the rim. A hand in his face does nothing to beak his stroke because his mental and physical algorithm has already determined how the ball will be released. It's just an amazing combo of a physical art and a mental science.

    I've noticed that when I shot I would use my left hand a bit to direct/push the ball together with my right hand not overly like a total rookie would but enough where I can tell every shot was off by a bit and watching Curry in this video the left hand is to stabilize the ball and move out the way for the right hand to push and follow through.

    it is not on his release. it is in his feet's placement. check how his sole - his heel almost always not touching the floor? in that position his legs is like a tighten spring ready to jump. so he is always standing on his sole's ball when taking a shot before jumping. try doing that it is painful in your leg muscle but your jump and release will be more smoother and consistent.

    0:23 before this, I always thought Steph shoots like everyone else where the hands is underneath the ball like most players but nope. Even as the ball reached the shot point, the hand is place on the side of the ball instead of underneath. As he release, then he turns his hand. I think this makes his shot fluid as place the hands underneath the ball like most players, will give tension and a tendency for chicken wing

    That’s underneath it looks like he’s holding it from the side but he isn’t His shot path is on the right so if he places the ball perfectly underneath like this - it’ll feel uncomfortable so his body changes it a bit to the side he doesn’t purposefully do it I think he has a fake thumb flick Or maybe just a light one that doesn’t effect his Shot much that’s probably why he doesn’t have a chicken wing

    I want everyone to know that every body is different, lol everybody two for one special. Anyways, our anatomy is different so, therefore stop trying to copy other peoples shots. Sure, you can take some of their mechanics, but straight out copying it is not gonna help you. You’ll need to find the perfect form for your own body. All the top shooters don’t have the same jumper, they all shoot differently, but with similar mechanics. They mastered, and found the jump shot that suites their body. They’re all great shooters because of this.

    Am i the only one that does a weird thing with his left hand? Like, my form is ok, L shaped right arm, wrist twist and all of the above, but after releasing the ball my left hand goes into an awkward position lmao

    You can watch this for hours and hours but you still can't shoot like him cuz his muscles memory. He shoot 3 since he was 5. That's 29 years of shooting the same ball over and over again. This is why you should train your kids at a very young age. Let him pick one sport and train him

    I can imagine his high school coach saying this all day: 'that's a bad shot' 'your teammate was open' 'don't shoot when its contested' 'why did you shoot from half court' 'you will never make it in NBA' 'you are wasting your time practicing those logo shots'
