I get why people are saying that.. but 1) it’s a regular season award.. 2) he earned the #1 seed.. 3) he did more with less around him than the other 2 guys.. it’s hard to beat out a defending champ when you have such a young team.. the steadiness it takes to do that when your team is inconsistent is VERY impressive.. Personally, my pick was Luka for MVP.. I thought he had the best “wow factor” individual season.. I thought SGA had the best season for leadership, overall consistency and defensive prowess.. and Jokic was the easiest to vote for - same great stats as before, defending champ, people think he was robbed last season, etc. People have different criteria..

One of the most reasonable takes from SAS I've ever heard. He's totally right - the Mavs as a team are benefitting from Luka's gravity, while OKC has not benefitted from Shai's -- and looked like the lesser team outside of Game 1 and the last few minutes of Game 4 even with Luka hobbled. Add in being away and comparative inexperience and an OKC collapse in Game 6 is extremely likely. If they survive Game 6, all bets are off on Game 7.

Luka was the best player this reg. season and will go to the cfinals vs jokic the best player overall in the world. Sad times for sas seeing 2 white european guys eliminate his face of the league and mvp hahaha

(not even Dallas fans) I’m a Denver fan but it’s obviously not Shai’s fault he’s out playing Luka and Kyrie and is the most consistent Superstar in the playoffs even more than Brunson (nothing against him but I feel like Luka/Shai/Ant/ and Jokic can drop 40 pieces on the Pacers lol) But I’m not to ignorant to admit that Shai has been balling. He’s insanely efficient, but the team is cracking under the pressure, so Shai out there by himself tbh. Jokic just got blown out but his guys are proven to be ready for game 7 and show up. Okc win or lose overachieved this year, and there’s nothing wrong with that

One of the most serious, interesting and insightful First Take segments in Stephen A.'s long career, he broke it down magnificently, he is absolutely spot on on every point he brought up, he didn't try to be controversial or clownish with his usual childish immature takes, it was perfectly balanced with a little bit of comedy sprinkled in there, that's the old school Stephen A that we used to love, he is smart and knows his basketball, I don't get why he constantly tries to be funny and controversial, he gave a perfectly complete analysis about the Dallas Mavericks, it's a shame that Luka is hobbled and Kleber is out for the season, otherwise i could see Dallas giving the Nuggets a run for their money.
