@@waynearrington7240totally agree. I think Crawford had the long game in mind in looking at the possible rematch money. Honestly, a lot of folks are saying they don’t want to see it after Saturday. If he put the beat down and gave him a KO in the sixth or so, folks wouldn’t pay for it.

I’ve been a Crawford fan for years and was looking forward to seeing this fight, but watching the way Bud beat up Spence gave me no joy, only a profound feeling of sadness. A sadness much more than when I watched Larry Holmes beat up on Muhammad Ali while holding back the power of his punches. I hope those close to Errol Spence, being his trainer, manager, promoter and family do precisely as Stephen and Teddy are strongly advising and ensure that Errol Spence doesn’t go anywhere near a gym for 12 months.

Longtime hardcore Crawford fan here seriously concerned for Errol Spence’s health. Thank you Stephen A Smith for your passionate empathetic plea to both Errol and Terence to not even consider a rematch for at least a year. I completely agree and genuinely hope Errol takes time off or retires. I grew up in Philly and Meldrick Taylor was my favorite active fighter back then and i was watching his fight with Chavez in real time. That knockdown and what led to it was so brutal i could def understand the ref stopping the fight if it wasn’t basically over. But it was apparent that Meldrick wasn’t right after that and he never recovered from it just like Gerald MacClellan never recovered from his fight with Nigel Benn. A novice ref who barely spoke English allowed that fight to continue despite obvious signs something was very wrong. If Gerald still had the great Emmanuel Steward in his corner he would have stopped it for sure. Boxing is extremely dangerous and we don’t need to see a rematch. Rematches should he reserved for competitive fights or suspicious decisions not brutal one sided beatdowns like Bud did to Errol.

I will NEVER Forget that fight with Meldrick Taylor & Chavez, I wanted Meldrick to WIN SO FKIN BAD, and I think that was Richard Steele that took the Title from Meldrick at the final second, because Meldrick BEAT CHAVEZ. That was 1990, & you are right , Meldrick was not the same , his speech patterns clearly affected. Man I remember the Lou Duva camp he was in because back then Lou also had Evander in his stable all Olympians. I been a Bud Crawford admirer for years, back when he first started out and all his Fights were in Nebraska. I knew he would win, I just thought it would go 12 with Highlights in between the rounds and Bud would pull it out on points because of Errol's skill set. I respect both fighters and their families , the 24 Access videos /SHO but I never doubted Bud for a second. I was so glad he got away from Bob Arum who reminds me of the Ol' School Don King way of Jerking his Fighters

They're doing the same again, jumping onto the bandwagon singing praises without looking at all aspects of the fight first! None of them tried to jog their memories back in an attempt to recall which of Crawford's past opponents went through what Spence went through! Suffering visible facial damage in just 3 rounds from the so called "power jab"! Where was this "power jab" when he fought David Avanesyan? What about Shawn Porter? Jeff Horn? Egidijus Kavaliauskas? Why none of them were unrecognizable by the 6th round? And you wanna tell me that the "power jab" only worked against Spence? Nah... Spence team need to look into this.

My heart was with with Spence, but as a boxing fan, I knew it was going to be trouble facing Crawford. Crawfords IQ, reflexes, instincts, and reaction time are naturally gifted. Crawford can slip punches and counter with precision. His power is underrated. Crawford dismantled Shawn Porter while Porter gave Spence a war. Spence also struggled with Kell Brook who’s also an outside and counter puncher. Crawford is just 5X times better than Brook. It’s disappointing, but tbh I wasn’t surprised from a boxing perspective. Spence’s aggressive forward style was tailor made for Crawford. If there’s a rematch, Spence will need to make some adjustments. Just not sure what those adjustments are at this point. Great career regardless.

  • @dukeholidai

    11 ай бұрын

@@chrishaswell4405 Reading is fundamental. I never said Spence did a better job because it’s obvious that Crawford took it to another level against Spence like it was personal. Another thing I noticed about Porter was his ability to adapt. But even with him adapting, Crawford still schooled him because that’s how Crawford, as you say, “thought he was down”. My take on it was different. Porter should have never tried to box Crawford straight up. That’s how was getting picked a part. Crawford was actually up on all 3 judges scorecards against Porter but his cornerman tricked him by telling him he was losing so Crawford went out into the 10th round and took him out easy. That’s what I call dismantling. Something Spence didn’t do to Porter. Which is why I knew Spence was in trouble because they fight similar to each other.

Looking back on the fight, it would have been better if there was 15 seconds left in the 2nd round. Bc Bud would have finished him then. It would have prevented the annihilation we saw over 9 rds. And to think, Bud was showing Spence mercy. Bud never got out of 1st gear. Had no reason to. He actually carried Spence for 9 rds.

My wife and I were yelling “Stop the fight!” 2 rounds before the fight was stopped. You can tell when the fighter is not ready, not trained properly, can’t see the punches, can’t wait adjustments, has no defense, no answer, not competitive, and not recovered from a brutal accident. I blame the trainer for not trainer Spence, having too many fighter, and not stopping the fight.

When Foreman was going down, Ali stopped the attack instead of finishing him with additional blows. That is why he is the greatest. Foreman is still grateful for that. Fighting a weak opponent makes you a bully. That is why Foreman never got a rematch from Ali.

I was for crawford from the beginning . I just felt he was the better fighter all around . In the beginning i was excited crawford was catching him and then i saw spence had nothing on his punches. I actually felt bad for spence . He is a human being and good guy . I didn't want him to get hurt more than he did . Im glad the ref stopped the fight because spence could have been hurt much worse . What was spence trainer thinking ? He ( spence ) was way behind on the score cards and needed a k.o. to win , and he had nothing on his punches . Should have tossed in the towel

Teddy Atlas has often said, the "special ones" have instincts. "PUNCHERS ARE BORN, NOT MADE." Crawford's instincts are that of a natural fighter who fights like you stole something from him; or, dare I say, his mother. "A cerebral vacuum." What a GREAT analogy. Bud is VICIOUS!!! Porter even stated that the difference of when he fought Spence and when he fought Crawford was the fact that Crawford seemed to always be a few steps ahead of him. Basicly, Crawford can decode someone...see what they're trying to do and bate them and force them to have to change their gameplan...some are great and then some are elite.

That’s why Kenny Porter stopped the fight. It only takes 1 or 2 extra shots for danger to occur.
