I thought that kid legally purchased that gun and since he didn’t have a criminal record he was able to legally obtain that firearm. I’m just trying to figure out what law Stephen A Smith and Steve Kerr want democrats to write that would of stopped or prevented this heinous act? Interesting enough republicans tried to change the age from 18 to 21 in California to be able to purchase a rifle and ironically enough the 9th district circuit court which is the most liberal far left district in the nation blocked the republicans legislation and ruled it was unconstitutional.

  • @jusjustice2875

There’s no law that can be passed that would of stopped this evil individual from killing his grandma and then going on to murder 19 innocent children and 2 teachers. I’ve heard some people mention banning assault rifles as if banning a assault rifle is going to stop a evil person with murderous intent. Let’s not forget one of the most horrendous mass shootings in US history was the V-tech shootings and that individual killed 32 people with 2 pistols. Instead of holding the evil person accountable and condemning his actions Steve Kerr wants to blame the Republican Party as if they were some how responsible for this or that the republicans blocked gun laws that would of prevented this tragedy which is another falsehood.

After 9/11 you started to equate all individuals of Muslim faith as Islamic terrorist. You believe in group identity and that’s very dangerous and also a primitive neanderthal lens to view the world through. Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents are far more likely than Republicans and GOP leaners to see gun violence as a major problem (73% vs. 18%). And nearly two-thirds of Americans who describe their community as urban (65%) say the same, compared with 47% of suburbanites and 35% of those who live in rural areas.

What Stephen A. and most Americans fail to understand is how Congress works. Dems may hold a slim majority but they have no control. In the House of Representatives, where they have control, they have sent much positive legislation to the Senate. In the Senate, they need 60 votes to approve any bills they get from the House. They only have 50-51 votes, depending what fake Dems like Manchin and Sinema do. Rarely do any Republicans break ranks and vote with the Democrats....so any legislation, supported by a majority of Americans, such as common sense gun control, health care issues, voting rights, etc. that gets to the Senate, eventually dies. Republicans won't supports these measures and they won't be held accountable. They won't be voted out if offuce because over the last 25 years, they have rigged the system

If I wanted to listen to politics I would watch Fox News or CNN. This is exactly why NBA viewership has seriously declined in recent years and has never recovered. You already are not allowed to bring guns across state lines without abiding by the state's gun laws. If you're not allowed to have a certain firearm in a state, you don't magically get to have it because you brought it from a state you are allowed to have it in. Is a new law going to make it double illegal? The only law that would have prevented what happened is a complete ban on rifles, which would be political suicide, as it is not anywhere near the national sentiment.

i don't think it's just as simple as more gun control laws though. criminals are criminals because they don't follow the laws. in fact, the hero in the elementary school shooting is the guy who ran and got his own gun and took a bullet in his attempt to take down the shooter and didn't wait for more police to arrive and more time for this spree to continue. I'm afraid making this issue just about gun control only is a drastic oversimplification of a much deeper problem. Agree with SAS though absolutely. we elected these folks and they have done awfully in "representing" their constituencies and far too often they sit idle, collect their paycheck off our tax dollars, and do less than the acceptable minimum in carrying out their job. we gotta hold these politicians accountable. get them out if they won't take action.

Here in the Philippines, we don't have mass shootings in schools because we have at least 4 security guards. And when we get into trouble, we don't blame other people for it. It's not about color or money, it's about right and wrong. it's about responsibility.
