@@bdamotta Stephen and Greg Kubacki (Carbomb) were the two guys I looked forward to the most. I've always respected that Stephen clearly knows how to express himself thru guitar/songwriting more than many virtuosic players I've been around myself. Greg falls on the opposite end of the spectrum as far as actual technique/intensity goes, but describes his process and skill level largely the same. Absolute breath of fresh air these days.

Steph’s music is unbelievable because it comes from a place of passion. His genius is not in his technical abilities, it’s in his passion and emotional ones

Lead parts that makes sense are welcome. But the over used boring solos and shreds.. are just boring.. love Stephs style. Cos its built upon feelings.. not the typical shredder that just wants to show off technique.. high technique will never mean good music.. Steph is a talented song writer.. he's music certaily goes beyond !

You know what’s awesome about Stephen & Deftones!? He proves you don’t have to be a crazy flashy Shred guitar player to write awesome iconic songs, riffs etc with your own unique feel & vibe! You CAN be flashy & Shreddy but it doesn’t mean you HAVE to be! You can Create something tasteful and unique which ever way you choose to go!

He is the coolest musician ever.

Steph is my hero. I can't tell you how many days I've spent researching his setup for guitar, like in depth reviews and research. I hope I could meet him some day and pick his brain.

One of my favorite guitarist ever, not for his technique, which i think is good tho, but for what makes me feel with his music. A legend.

One of the best Deftones albums.... Stephen's melodies...Chino's vocals were on point... the bass groves... drumming not overplayed... I forgot how much I love that song.

Yeah but not because he doesn't like them tho. Mainly becsuse he's a plain an simple man. He didn't even care about the emgs from what he said earlier. He just had them already in his guitar.

Kinda wish the mix on stephs guitar was a lot louder. Could barely hear it over the songs. Still rad to see steph at an event like this tho.

Best deftones song to demo

Stephen playing is simple, smart and rich on dynamic range. Music is not about amount, is about quality.

Always loved his tone, never oversaturated , such a clear drive if there's such a thing. I think he's a mesa boogie guy, his tone comes from amp and drive he uses. I think so...now I wanna look it up lol.

His first signature model was a six string. They brought it back for the 20th anniversary of Stef being with ESP. So even though he doesn't use them anymore, if you want the sound of the first 3 deftones records. You get the 6 string

Its so funny watching these types of videos expecting slurs of arpeggios, scales and finger crawling solos then here goes stephen doing simple guitar chords holding it for couple of seconds. Its like a reminiscence of the first time you learned what chords are but yet hes rocking hard. So its all about the passion guys
