I joined the local Menz Shed for its metal shop, but three years later I am loving working with wood. I wouldn't exactly call it quiet though. The thicknesser screams as it planes a plank, and even the table router has you running for your ear protection. It has been nice to be on a learning curve again, and for than a bit frustrating at times. A spring pass can be way more significant with wood, but the worst aspect - apart from not being able to consistently work to better than one or two tenths of a millimetre - is that two weeks after you finish the project some of it has shrunk while the bit next to it has expanded and twisted, and that tenth of a millimetre you were quietly pleased with has turned into a 3mm gap! It's still a lot of fun though, and as with the engineering channels, there is no shortage of good wood working advice to be found on KZread.

The first video of yours I saw was the Chainsaw Go-kart series about a year and a half ago - I have plans to build a kart for my (now almost 5 y/o) daughter, and teach her to drive (at the behest of her mother), I just need to get a TIG and learn how to weld aluminium properly ;) - , and I've been working my way through your videos ever since.. (with many repeat views of some vids).. Watching mill and lathe work is oddly soothing and satisfying, and your humour is right on point, as I find myself chuckling right through your videos.. As a Woodworker myself, I found this video to be a pleasant diversion from your 'normal' metal working videos, even if you did take the piss a bit with the cliche music.. ;) Thanks for making life bearable mate, looking forward to your next video.. Cheers from the Land Down Under.. :)

Another breakfast of champions Tony! There is something cathartic about wood work especially with good joinery...nice job on yours. Oh My, cleco's and AL tree forts, put wings and a rudder on that one and you have a B25...I'm still a kid I guess. The height gauge was brilliant, never could just saw once on legs! @¿@ So much fun, gotta watch'em both again. Thanks Tony, the best fun on a Thursday morning! ~PJ

I'd still like to see a chamfer on those feet. Nice series. I certainly used to watch Norm and Roy on TV. (I quit watching TV about 15 years ago; just got to be too much.) I now enjoy watching Paul Sellers on KZread as a change from the couple of dozen machinists I follow. So, I say go ahead - do a little woodworking (and video it) when the spirit moves you. Always entertaining, whatever you do in the shop.

Awesome stool, I'm the opposite of you, I've got all the woodworking machines and hand tools as well as metal working tools grinders and welders but no bigger machines, I did a 2 year furniture design course that included some metal fabrication units and then followed that with a 12 month engineering fabrication course , was the best 3 years education as an adult. Keep up the good work.
