Meet Gustavo Ribeiro, the Portuguese pro skater who is about to take his shot on the biggest stage in the world. Ride with him as he shows us around his hometown of Lisbon, Portugal.
In this episode Gustavo explains how he got into skateboarding, his dream of becoming a pro skater and how he rose through the ranks of contests making a name for himself when he made it to Street League, taking a podium finish next to his favorite skaters Shane O'neill & Nyjah Huston.

Much respect for Gustavo! It wasn't easy to win with Nyjah. It is deserved win. In that day he was the best in the world!

The total truth about him and most of pro athletes that get to that level is because they start at a very young age and never stop. I remember starting skating at 9, just for 3 months, and came back when I was 14 and before I stepped again on the table I knew it was too late for getting such skills. Too many tricks, I felt the same way that guy did when you don't learn something new. Skateboarding is one of the most, not to say the hardest and complicated sport out there, because I was good learning other sports like doing gymnastics, I was really good doing flips with my body, and it only took me 2 months to learn to do that on ground...Skateboarding is really hard to be a pro, just stop for a momemt and think only how many tricks, grinds, tricks in bowls you have to learn and improve...

Gustavo was already my top 3 favorite skater but after this, he’s definitely become my number 1. Also a HUGE inspiration to me. I’m in awe. ❤

When I was 13 I went to the local spot in Carnaxide and remember two curly haired little kids doing kickflips and shit. I barely popped an ollie at the time so I felt a bit embarrassed, haha. Should have known that I was looking at real talent.
