Step by step RIVER AQUASCAPE tank FULL OF ALGAE | EP1 HILLSTREAM AQUARIUM (low tech shallow tank)
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Let's create something different; River aquascape tank full of algae. This Hillstream aquarium is low tech shallow tank and will mostly be hardscape only tank with only plant being Cryptocoryne Wendtii. Plan is to grow as much algae as possible on the smooth surfaces of the rocks because later on I plan to add mostly algae grazing fish. I will clean only front glass while back, left and right side of the aquarium will remain with algae on it.

I like this. Agree with Dylan that this feels more like a biotope than the previous iteration. Excited to see the progress. Take care.

Me too. I moved Minnows from the old Hillstream to this one that is at least 40-50% less volume. They really appreciate all the space they can get. I think this aquarium will get even better with time and especially when the algae starts developing on the rocks.
Wow! I wish i found your channel sooner, I love how your tanks look and they're a big inspiration for me. I'm rescaping my tank at the moment so I'm looking at lots of aquascapes!

Thanks.
Is this the second illustration after the first one?. The first one was beautiful with or without some algae issues. Algae issues are prevalent specially in new tanks where the water coloumn holds excess nutrients for algae to bloom before the tank can complete the cycle. So is this one a modified version of the first one. I do found the round sized river rocks to be more amazing.

This one has a more “biotope” feel. The background feels more like a river bank. Overall, I really like this one! I wonder how the algae succession will proceed - looking forward to updates!

@IMaqua
Жыл бұрын
If you are planning to keep Hillstream (River) species I would advise against it because they like smooth surfaces of river stones. Dragon and lava stones is opposite of smooth.

@@IMaqua ok, thank u for the advice. Because is not easy to find river stone in my place. How about seiryu stone and smooth driftwood. Sorry just new in this hobbies. Thank you
@IMaqua

It doesn't really need to be called River stones. Any smooth stone will do. If you don't have that kind of stones in a specialised aquarium stores you can always check any garden shops they usually have a nice selection of smooth stones.

Yes you can. Just make sure you wash and scrape them thoroughly.
hmm did you wait with plants cuz otherwise algae would've not grow? or is there any logic behind it? haha..thanks

Algae are normal in aquariums. Of course I am talking about little bit of algae. That's why I love this aquarium. I grow algae on purpose.
