    God bless you for this , in the uk Bags are also used to plant potatoes and sweet potatoes that is harvested in about 100 days this will provide work for unemployed city dwellers

    This is wonderful! Quick question please...did you mix any manure like chicken drops or fertilizer with the soil? If not, can I mix dried chicken drops with the sand ? Finally can I start to wet the planted yam immediately.?

    I didn't mix it. Just placed by the side of the yam. As it rains or during wetting, it disintegrate and plant absorb.

    You've got to perforate the bags otherwise they become waterlogged. The bags i used were self drain though.

    The thing is, I used what was available to me. Those with access to better soil should go for it. Usually loamy soil is good

    Not at all. The chemical composition of such soil will definitely inhibit the growth of the yam

    We’ve not experimented with planting them in dry season. I guess we’ll try that in the coming dry season. But during the rainy reason not much cos rain most times does what it is expected to do. Whenever we go 3 to 4 days without rain then we water them

    Thanks for sharing your process. Just stumbled on your channel today. I had some cut out that had sprouted and really grown I planted them in bags today my process was quite different. I hydrated the soil overnight and planted this morning. I added cow dung and some egg shells I have been saving. How often should one water?Did I do right!? I will definitely add some dry leaves by tomorrow. Can we do the same for Irish and sweet potatoes ?

    Yes you did right. Hydrating the soil is necessary either before planting or after. I’m glad you were able to plant some. You can do the same for sweet or Irish potato as well. We will be making video on that soon.

    Tie a rope/thread next to the yam and intertwine the tendrils with the thread. As the yams grows, it follows the thread upwards. Remember yams will only thread vertical ropes and not horizontal ropes.

    No dear you don't plant those big ones ooo,if u go to the local market in season of farming ( March, April May) u will find yam seedlings that you can grow, you will find other stuffs that you can grow
