    It is always great to see good repairs. In Australia the smallest problem means replacing everything. The refrigerant gas is so expensive here, repairs are not economical. I looked it up today: in Australia it is $AUD150 per kilo for R410a, 23 times more expensive than India. Imagine throwing away installed units, just because of the high gas price. All that copper, the compressor, all the electronics, all gets junked. What a waste of carbon.

    All the units can be repairable and will work perfectly OK. Throwing the units is a waste. But how will AC companies make money? Also R22 gas is the best and most efficient gas for refrigeration but is banned just because companies wanted to sell expensive gases. Deplation of Ozone layer is not proved scientifically.

    Hi friend, I have a question and would appreciate a lot if you would answer. I have an Inverter AC Hisense Energy Pro Plus that is really good and powerful, but it is installed in a small room (20 square meters) so when temperatures outside are above 8 degrees celsius AC heats the room quickly, and AC goes into stand by mode because it cannot modulate power below 400w. When it's even warmer outside +10 C and above, the ac goes into these standy mutiple times in a day, sometimes even 3-4 times in an hour. My question is, are those freequent stand by and compressor shutting off and powering on bad for ac lifetime ? can it cause failure over time or this has little or no impact on AC lifetime ?

  • @SomaElectricals

    @SomaElectricals

    4 ай бұрын

    Frequent cycling of an air conditioner, where it goes into standby mode and the compressor shuts off and powers on multiple times, can indeed have an impact on the unit's lifetime, although the severity of this impact can vary depending on several factors. Compressor Wear: The compressor is one of the most critical components of an air conditioner, and frequent cycling can lead to increased wear and tear on this component. Each time the compressor starts up, it undergoes a surge in electrical current and mechanical stress, which can contribute to its deterioration over time. Electrical Components: In addition to the compressor, other electrical components such as relays, capacitors, and contactors may also experience increased stress with frequent cycling. Over time, this can lead to component failure. Efficiency and Performance: Frequent cycling can also impact the overall efficiency and performance of the air conditioner. When the unit repeatedly cycles on and off, it may not have sufficient time to effectively dehumidify the air or maintain consistent temperatures, leading to discomfort and potentially higher energy consumption. Refrigerant Issues: Rapid cycling can also affect the refrigerant system, potentially causing fluctuations in pressure and temperature within the system, which may impact its overall performance and efficiency. While occasional cycling is normal for air conditioners, excessively frequent cycling, as you described, can accelerate wear and potentially shorten the lifespan of the unit. However, it's essential to consider that modern air conditioners are designed to withstand a certain degree of cycling, and their lifespan can be influenced by various factors, including maintenance, usage patterns, and environmental conditions. To mitigate the impact of frequent cycling and ensure the longevity of your air conditioner, consider the following steps: Optimize Settings: Adjust the temperature settings to minimize the frequency of cycling while still maintaining comfort. Proper Sizing: Ensure that the air conditioner is appropriately sized for the room. Oversized units can cycle on and off more frequently in smaller spaces. Regular Maintenance: Keep the air conditioner well-maintained by cleaning or replacing filters, checking refrigerant levels, and scheduling regular professional inspections. Consideration for Replacement: If frequent cycling becomes a significant issue and significantly impacts comfort or energy efficiency, you may consider upgrading to a unit with better modulation capabilities or seeking alternative solutions such as additional insulation or shading to reduce heat gain in the room. Overall, while frequent cycling can impact the lifespan of an air conditioner, proper maintenance and considerations for usage can help mitigate these effects and ensure optimal performance and longevity.
