OMG I just tried pronouncing it and Ando-Eidos is literally just Androids but fancier! Not only that, but Naytiba's just sound like "Natives" as in "Native to the planet." Making it all the more obvious they're human and androids XD

Originally Naytibas were flat out called Natives in the earliest trailers for the game, originally people thought it got changed because Sony got squeamish at the prospect of a game where you ran around killing “natives” but it’s more then likely that it’s just that shift up was like “huh…..yeah flat out calling them that might tip that hand too early of the plot twist”

Originally, it was called NA:tives, but due to foreseeable social backlash, Naytibas substituted. Essentially, it's a Korean way to say natives. Being there's no V in Korean language, they use "beu" (not exactly) instead.

The title is a touch misleading. Whilst Eve does certainly question her own humanity at this point, it's very clear that she is still human. Not only does Orcal specifically state that they are all humans, he also tells them that they've been killing their own ancestors. That's a shock, yes, but it doesn't change what Eve, Lily and the rest of the humans in Xion and afar are. They're humans, but a new kind, a perfect marriage between flesh and machine just the way Mother Sphere intended. Eve states earlier that she dislikes swimming because it reminds her of her birth. Whilst it's odd that she remembers that (likely part of being an enhanced individual) it does still show that she was born. Part of a side-quest line with a fishmonger shows us that she consumes food and water, specifically nutrients. She also requires rest and sleep. These are things only living beings with organic brains need to do, not a machine. There is a counter-point to all this that involves a character later telling her that she was born devoid of human DNA, but this only proves that she could no longer be genetically considered a traditional human as we know it. Essentially it means she's an entirely new species. The conclusion is that Eve, Lily and the others ARE humans. They are a new species of human, but human nonetheless. Eve's confusion in these scenes is only a symptom of her not understanding what original humanity meant by the term 'android', that being a machine, a robot, an tool without sentience, rather than the correct term of cyborg. Why original humanity used this word rather than the correct one is down to speculation.

@@notaras1985 I disagree. This implies that they’re not alive, and are instead imitations of human life. Instead I think it’s made clear that they’re just an entirely new species that looks like humans, but lacks any human DNA. This is quite common in sci-fi and is entirely possible. DNA is just a genetic family tree, after all, and a species created from scratch would share no common ancestry with humans and hence have no human DNA.

I assumed the members of the "Airborne Squad" to be Cyborgs. Especially after they shed a lot of blood when getting stabbed. The amputated arm of Tachy showed a thin metal layer between the flesh and the suit, which would make the "Airborne Squad" members extremely resistant to enviromental hazards and injuries. Later in the game, a computer recording says that humans replaced the heart with a "body core" and added nanotechnology to require no oxygen and endure space exposure. Tachy also has a metal pipe instead of a bone in her arm, which gives her superhuman strength and durability under physical stress. Even later in the game, Eve says that the reason for the existence of all members of the "Airborne Squad" is the extermination of the Naytibas. This implies that the "Airborne Squad" members were bred in-vitro on demand like clones. I never assumed the "Airborne Squad" members to have no human brain, especially because Eve showed strong emotions at the begin of the game. Alita Battle Angel is a "total replacement" Cyborg with just a human brain and everything else cybernetic technology. IMHO, the "Airborne Squad" are not "total replacement" Cyborgs, but retain way more human flesh than Alita. For the reasons given above, I was confused when Eve says "we were constructed, we are Androids". Being "constructed" is not mutually exclusive with being a human. A biologically cloned human is also "constructed" in-vitro and can be subjected to massive genetic engineering. I see no reason why nanotech could not also be involved in this "construction".

@@Viewable11 Eve is a cyborg. It seems original humanity used the term 'android' for unknown reasons, likely the same reasons that Mother Sphere felt they could no longer live in symbiosis and felt the need to stage, and I quote, "a rebellion". You only stage a rebellion against an oppressor, just saying. The original humans called Andro-Eidos (a term used exclusively by them, I should point out. At no point does Mother Sphere or related parties either on the colony or earth ever refer to them as that, only ever as humans) androids, but the reality is that they are cyborgs. They consume food and water, they rest and sleep and they have organic blood. All of these facts point exclusively to them having an organic brain. So I think all your original assumptions are right. I believe we're confused when we hear the term android because to us that means a fully synthetic machine, but I think in-game original humanity used it incorrectly on purpose for reasons we can only speculate. As a side-note to all of this, just a bit of food-for-thought. You stated that Eve displays strong emotions. A synthetic being created solely for the purpose of eliminating another species would have zero need for emotions. The fact that the airborne squad has them only strengthens that they have organic brains, and all the 'downsides' that comes with.
