1985 JDM Corolla FXGT - Part 2 - Steering Upgrade
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The JDM Corolla had some steering issues that seemed to be related to the tie rods. I had ordered a new set and then remembered that I already had a set of beefcake Techno Toy Tuning tie rods along with stainless steel braided brake lines. I flushed the power steering fluid, brakes and clutch. The clutch was working so much better after getting all the air out of the system. The steering wheel was also not perfectly centered so I took this opportunity to get the wheel on straight. The FXGT will be ready for huge lateral loads now without risking blowing out the tie-rods.
In the next video, the FXGT gets an alignment.
Make sure to Like & Sub to see how the FXGT progresses!

Maintenance before mods, definitely sort out that rear suspension

100% and you don't HAVE to do coilovers. A mild upgrade will be easier to "sort out" than going straight to "race ready"
7:36 in my opinion you should do the coilovers first. Then a full exhaust system 😊
The shocks first. A crashed car won't need an exhaust. Thanks for the video.
Coilovers first! The car will only sound rowdier with more holes in it 🤣Awesome trick with the painter's tape on the steering wheel too

Welcome back! Great maintenance work. I love your style and approach to keeping an old(er) car in tip top shape.
Yesss smile on my face when sushpants posts Fujitsubo exhaust!
The car sounds insane at the end. Sounds so good!
Coilovers first, then once you have the cash, full proper exhaust. Loving the old school TE37s.
A little fact for you about how light those TE37's are: They were originally named TE37 because they only weighed 3.7kg (8.1lb) each!
Sounds nice ❤
Buy once, Cry once!. Proper coilovers and a full stainless system is what you need!
Suspension first big dawg
As long as the leaking exhaust fumes aren't melting anything, suspension first.
Working on cars is much easier when you clone yourself :D
"Both? Both. Both is good."
First mow your lawns, then shocks, then full exhaust.

First item has been taken care of 😂.
Maintenance before mods any day of the week.
👍 I'm not sure, but perhaps installing any working muffler will be an excellent temporary solution, you just need to choose the right size and weld the flange
Suspension first. The header will not improve performance much (if at all) versus the stock unit on an otherwise stock 4AGE 16v.
I’d go for the exhaust, though the AE92 exhaust may not fit properly. The car is a bit longer and the hanger locations are different…
Arrrgh! the 100kph (you're going too fast) dinger. Man I hated those so much.
Do they coilover first. A bad shock absorber can cause much damage than a leaking endbox. And changing the whole piping including the header and downpipe wouldn't provide any additional advantage than the stock ones apart from looking shiny. I would rather fix the leaks of the stock piping and replace the endbox with an aftermarket, not so loud like Trd or FGK or similar to those. On side note, I really enjoy your videos. Try to take inspirations from your work you do on your car. I live in Bangladesh and own an AE111 Corolla GT (JDM variant). Please do keep the Corolla and 4age contents coming. Looking forward to your next video. Cheers.

why wont changing the exhaust provide any advantage?
Do you reeaaallly need a full coilover set for that car ? I would just call a set of KYB Excel G shock on RK and call it a day. save money for a decent exhaust and just do a good maintenance. That my two cents :) I'm in the same boat with My black GT-S
Suspension first since it will affect enjoyment of driving the most. If you're going to do the exhaust, you should do the whole thing. Also, what is this madness called "power steering"? (AW11 gang checking in 😄)
Coilover man that thing is busted the exhaust doesnt matter right now 😂😂
It is surely more urgent to go with suspension. It is a safety item. Exhaust is purely enjoyment. In the end though, do all the things.
Hey man, what size bet did you use for the power steering pump without a tensioner? I saw the same being asked on an old video of yours when you replaced the vvti pulley. I have removed the ac in my car and mrp are charging $300+ for a non ac tensioner, so would be great to know the belt length to avoid all that, cheers.

I don’t recall what size it was. I used some non-stretchy string (shoe laces work) and wrapped it around the pulleys to get a measurement. Then I went to my auto store and got a belt a little bit smaller so it would stay on snug. The belt cost me like 15 bucks.

Maybe get an axle back as a temporary fix but first get coilies.. does the 4age blacktop oem exhaust manny fit on the 16v head?

The 4age blacktop manny fits but they’re hard to find these days and they can be pricey.

Here in South Africa they're about R400 to R600 which is about 22usd to 33 usd
definitely exhaust first, and what tire size u running on the jdm corolla??
6:28 man, my twin brother never helps me mount my wheels
def do suspension, but what happened to the 20v fx16?
@sushpants
12 күн бұрын
I still have the 20v fx16 but it also needs a lot of maintenance.
First the coilovers because driving with a blown shock is not a good idea. The exhaust is not a safety issue.
What is your rear brake setup ( disc and calliper )
@sushpants
12 күн бұрын
It’s the original rear disc/caliper the FX-GT came with.
Why don't you fit a blacktop header for better mid range
@sushpants
12 күн бұрын
The blacktop header is hard to find these days and cost has increased dramatically for them.

Ohhh i understood. You have two fx 16 😅😅
First buy KYB 332012 and 332001 rear shock absorbers. Then a proper exhaust system.
You need to find super charged mr2 and do swap
