Steeple to Steeple Tour 2024 in Portsmouth, Virginia
On Mother's Day weekend, we took Jack's mom to the Steeple to Steeple Tour, an annual event in Olde Towne Portsmouth, Virginia - a city next door to Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA. We will share with you just a few minutes of this all day tour featuring art, architecture and stories from 8 historic houses of worship.
This tour visited the following 7 churches and 1 synagogue in the city of Portsmouth, Virginia. You can Google any of these by name for more information. Be sure to add the city (Portsmouth, Virginia) to the end of the name as you Google as a number of these are fairly common church names so searching for them without the city specified could lead to another location with a similar name topping the search results:
St Paul’s Roman Catholic Church
Chèvre T’helim - Jewish Museum and Cultural Center
Emanuel A.M.E. Church
Monumental Methodist Church
St John’s Episcopal Church
Court Street Baptist Church
First Presbyterian Church
Trinity Episcopal Church

Enjoyed the tour! Thanks for sharing
Some beautiful churches and former Synagogue, Alice and Jack. Never knew that's where the Vulcan sign came from! Lovely architecture and some great history. Loved hearing about the "underground railroad" and just hearing the pipe organ! Thanks so much for the tour.

That's a nice historic little town there in Virginia! Wow, plenty of beautiful churches! Good tour! Thanks for taking us with you! 🙂
What an awesome tour! Our fav was the one used for the Underground Railroad!
Great churches tour. Many churches were rebuilt several times from its originals. The organs are amazing. Great to see so many different denominations, if only they could all unite and become one. After all there is only one God! Thank you for taking us along Jack and Alice ❤🙏🏽👍🏽
Very intersting video! This looks like a wonderful way to spend Mother's Day. The architecture, features, and historic roles these churches played are so fascinating. I also appreciate how you can feature churches from various denominations while maintaining focus on what you all have in common, rather than whatever differences may exist. Very tactful and respectful. The included lunch was also a nice bonus to such a special Mother's Day experience.
What a fantastic way to explore Portsmouth's history! I loved how you included details about the architecture and the stories of the people who attended these churches. The pipe organ concert at Monumental Methodist Church was a cool surprise too. This video makes me want to plan a history walking tour myself! Thanks for the inspiration, and keep up the great work!👌👍
