Lyrics
Steely Dan - Don't Take Me Alive
Agents of the law
Luckless pedestrian
I know you're out there
With rage in your eyes and your megaphones
Saying all is forgiven
Mad Dog surrender
How can I answer
A man of my mind can do anything
CHORUS:
I'm a bookkeeper's son
I don't want to shoot no one
Well I crossed my old man back in Oregon
Don't take me alive
Got a case of dynamite
I could hold out here all night
Yes I crossed my old man back in Oregon
Don't take me alive
Can you hear the evil crowd
The lies and the laughter
I hear my inside
The mechanized hum of another world
Where no sun is shining
No red light flashing
Here in this darkness
I know what I've done
I know all at once who I am
CHORUS

Great work by the guitarist, especially fine phrasing and feel. Then there was the lead vocal, bloody superb and he didn't even look like he was trying. Blew me away.

From a long time SD fan who has seen them 9 times their songs are daunting to play to say the least. I like the guitar player and the vocals, but what the hell is the drummer doing?

How can that guitar sound so thin running through a Vox? Probably the sound mix. Cool cover, but that guitar tone was really distracting. That song should have a warmer - more low end, less high end - guitar tone.

@@bmcash3411 agreed, I've tried Vox amps on a few occasions but they're not for me. Very thin sounding and way too bright. I much prefer Fender amps, especially for this type of music.

That's not bad. Is Tom Freeman the guitarist? If so, I'll recommend him to the next level....hehe. The band is ok, singers ok. I miss the distinction by the background singers of verse 2 and three on the original Steely Dan, but as the guitar work...... it is great to me. He got the soul and also the sort of backlaid feeling that Steely Dan has. Not too much, and not too less. Well done, except the vocals.

from a opportunity standpoint that sucked...allow me to explain before you start flaming. guitar lead, drums, and bass nailed it, rhythm was good, then it fell apart.... i love this song and you could have crushed it, if not for thin lead guitar sound, sophomore vocals, ( weak, thin, sloppy) and the worst choice of backup singers on the planet, totally lame ducks, find a different strawberry dude, one that can hold a tune......otherwise great show mates!!!
