Wil the x and chatgame mixer work on playstation ? Should i go with P instead im upgrading from 3d pulse which it has the chatgame mixer , but the pulse elite dosent have it either and its 30hours of battry life ( the main reason i want to upgrade from 3d pulse but not having the mixer is just a big let down Ps : i have the arctic 7+ on my pc which has the mixer and is amazing i cant go back on it but if elite doesn’t have the mixer then its a choice between bad or worse and i rather have the app and battery life instead of what ever elite suppose to be

First of all, thank you very much for the review. I've been using the Arctis 5 for about five years now. Actually, it still works perfectly fine, but I feel like spending some money :). When the battery life is over, can we replace it? My second question is, can we use it with a cable? I would be very happy if you could answer. Thank you.

The battery isn't replaceable, at least not easily. Yes, you can power them via USB and use them at the same time. They are always wireless though. No audio is passed through the USB.

Heck yeah, Tool is awesome!

is this a worthwhile purchase for ps5?

Can you turn off the volume limited on the app? Because previous model require you to download software on a pC?

Virtual surround sound is very subjective and for gaming I think it can be a nice to have. Should work fine with these. Sony's 3D audio sounds great through the Nova range.

I just got the nova 5p two days ago but it sounds really crackly and makes some warping sounds on the ps5. It sounds fine with the Bluetooth and for some reason sounds fine with the 2.4 on my laptop, but on the switch and ps5 with the 2.4 it makes those sounds but the ps is significantly worse than the switch. Any ideas on if that’s something I can fix or should I just try and get a replacement? I’ve tried re pairing the dongle to the headphones, using the usb adapter piece, adjusting the eq, updating it, changing the distance but nothing is fixing working. I had the arctis 7p before this and still do (I still have to use them now because of this) and it works perfectly fine everywhere so I’m not sure what the problem is. I think it might be the dongle since the bluetooth works fine but I don’t know since it works on my laptop. Any ideas?

Sorry, apart from it being Bluetooth 5.3 I don't know. This info wasn't shared in the press release or review guide I was sent.

barracudas seem like a shell in comparison, absolutely pay or save up the extra 30. the mic on my barracuda xs that ive had for about a year r starting to cut out during use. which is y im upgrading to the nova 5s

I've been using my Barracuda X for months now. So happy with them. Nothing's wrong with them, I'm content with it overall. Comfort could be better, and the fit could be more secure (it's a bit awkward, as if they're the wrong way around / backwards). It's probably down to preferences / what's important to you. The mic is fine - it's the cheapest set I've bought that friends don't complain about not hearing me through. So, just as good as more expensive options. I'm not picky about sound fidelity, but the sound is pleasing too and overall decent. Again, they don't disappoint in any aspect, but they don't excel at anything either. I still think it's an amazing achievement since most headsets I've had either didn't isolate sound well, or battery didn't last, or sound was imbalanced, or the mic sucked, or they were too bulky, or the software hindered more than helped, and so on. I've had another Arctis, not the Novas, but a One I think it's called, and I was happy overall with it too, and I'd say the fit was more comfortable but sound isolation wasn't there and I care about that too. The Barracuda is well built too - I've managed to break them by sitting on them heavily several times only (I sleep on them), but they would've been fine otherwise. The arctis one I used was even better built though and even lighter. Now the nova is not as open as the Arctis I used, so I might like it more, but the fit might not be as good as that either.

can I plug it to my pc when it run out of battery? you said there is no 3.5mm so I can only use it wirelessly but also said I can use it while charging how does that work

It only receives audio from a wireless signal but you can have it plugged in via usb to charge while using it.

Not too worried.. this headphone battery life is 60 hour..

So with the dual connectivity could I listen to music from my phone with Bluetooth and still hear the game audio/xbox chat?

No. Only one audio source at a time. It doesn't support simultaneous playback. You'd need the Nova 7 for that.

On PlayStation is it worth getting these or just going with the Pulse 3D or Elite? I’d like to buy a new set today and am kind of leaning towards Sony branded just because it’s the same as the console. Also, no 3.5 👎 that’s always a bad move

I would say they are worth it and would definitely recommend these over the Sony brands after having resolved my issues i was experiencing. Which was hearing myself in the mic and the low volume even at maximum. All of these issues can be fixed in the app that you download by turning off Audio limiter and turning the side tones all the way down so you can't hear yourself through the mic. Other than that.. they are comfortable. Not as comfortable as my Rigs 800HS. But they're comfortable. The presets are a bit overwhelming because there are so many to choose from and you can customize your own presets and then load them onto the mobile app from the GG pc app. I would say this headset has more customization and portability than a regular gaming headset compared to the Sony Brand. But you will definitely have to spend a lot of time customizing the sound to your liking, because out of the box it's as flat as can be. Where as the Pulse 3D audio feels balanced right out of the box and the EQ settings are kind of limited. The only downside to the Sony headsets.. they are not comfortable after prolonged use and the battery life is not as good. Hope this helps.

I even called Gamestop to ask when they were released and they couldn't tell me. So... Today is the first day i am actually seeing reviews on these and realizing they just came out. Which I need to edit my former post after having solved a lot of my issues I was having with them.

I couldn't find a single review on them and even called the retailer i purchased them from to ask when they were released and they were clueless as to when they received them. The Pulse Elite is a very different headset. Big planar drivers are nice and gives it that wonderful warm planar sound. It has simultaneous audio playback dual connectivity too. The Nova 5 has a significantly bigger battery, weighs a lot less and has a companion app. It also has way more device compatibility but that’s neither here nor there if you’re only using it with PlayStation.

Can I use it without having to install the SS GG software?

I got the 5x for my ps5 and was disappointed. I maxed both volume on the headset and ps5 and it was not loud. Am I missing a step?

Volume limiter is set to 'on' by default. Have a look in the app and try turning it off.

These for sure , unless you want the chat/game valoume rocker ( I wanted it for my ps5 but it dosent have it) I have a arctic 7+ for my pc and it's amazing it has everything , I bought it never the less becouse of battry life comparing to 3d pulse headset which is garbage battry and mic wise This has a fantastic mic 60 hour battry , I hope I can't fix the valoume rocker issue somehow withing the app

I don’t get it. If the price is the same, why make a 5p and a 5x? Has anyone had problems with 5x? I was completely burned by steelseries with their arctis 9x; the connection was god awful; to the point of being unusable and they wouldn’t trade them in or refund. Not sure I’ll take a jump with them again, but if I did, I’d want to be sure these aren’t going to have a good connection.

I asked this exact question to a SteelSeries marketing rep and the reason they have the different models is simply so that people know that their specific platform is covered. Doesn't makes sense to me but there you go.

Its the same,just 7 has a metal headband and 5 has a plastic,same drivers same everything except chipset,5 has a newer chipset

Correct. The Nova 7 has a few extra features such as dual wireless playback, a 3.5mm analogue connection and an additional dial on both the regular Nova 7 (chatmix) and 7P (sidetone). I prefer the way it's tuned (how it sounds) too. The 5 does have a bigger battery though

No. The chatmix dial only works on Xbox or PC via the sonar software. The Nova 5X is also the only model that includes this dial.

This is the same problem you'll find with most other headsets. Unless it has an optical in, chatmix has to be managed using the system OS on PlayStation

Agreed. My guess is they do it to reserve the best features for their own products. Xbox uses a priority wireless signal which is why you need a specific headset for Xbox and neither PlayStation or Xbox let you use regular bluetooth headphones. Ironically, Nintendo let you connect just about anything to the Switch.
