Remember that OVR smooth tracking is a local-only thing. With VRC the smoothing is only something you will see on your end. Within VRC they already smooth out what everyone else sees on their end, the software just lets you see what they see. It's good for recording and steaming, that's about it

Beautiful list, yes to all the above! While the full version isn't free: OVR Toolkit I would also put as a great general VR add on to any game, not just to improve VRchat itself. I always have it running in the background just for the simple "wristwatch" feature to tell the time lol Perfect tool if you want quick access to your PC ingame. Perfect tool for VR streamers Some people have found more success with other SteamVR overlay programs such as XSOverlay, but I've not tried it.

another great program OVR Toolkit ($9.99) if you use fullbody, its a life saver ovrtoolkit acts as a monitor for your computer and vr devices it uses a wrist watch type overlay where it can display, time, music/media controls, controller/puck/headset battery percent's it also comes with a desktop display overlay so you can see your desktop in vr along with the full 100% keyboard, with function keys and a question mark (steam vr keyboard does not have a question mark)

Great video, the smoothing seems interesting that I'll try out. I've been using OVR Toolkit and OVR Advanced Settings, sadly it seems like having both open tends to crash steamvr more consistently. But very great.

Yaass OVR Advanced settings play space mover has been invaluable for ease of use for the average VR player, for non-FBT players once set up just simply pull the air to laydown, crouch down or stand up (or whatever animation stance your avi does at those heights) in one quick motion if you're just chilling out sitting down IRL. Any crouch height you want! You're no longer stuck with your play space/guardian dictating your height position or avatar limitations, & you're no longer having to click into the hand menu to change between seated/standing/seated/standing/seated/standing! Before I knew about OVR settings I was just changing my height in the settings menu as I was crouched, which makes the crouch stance lower as the height number increases, the problem with that is that is your avi hands become abnormally huge the taller you change the setting lol.

I've been using OVR Smoothing for a month now and it's super helpful when I want to type in VRC/Steam VR. The controllers are always too shaky for me to accurately and quickly but the smoothing helps a lot. Oh also, since controllers are smoother now, I can "fine tune" how smooth I hold VRC camera since it's not customizable in game.

for the playspace mover, I have it set for one of the controllers using the menu button but have disabled that menu button in VR chat so It doesn't interfere. I also set my left grip button to toggle gravity when double clicked and my right grip button to reverse the gravity while held.

The smoothtracking one is like magic o_O

OVR Toolkit is useful, like being able to quickly look at my wrist for time, usage stats and be able to open windows for applications

It is good. I wasn’t sure about including it because it’s mostly a desktop viewer but I guess even just the wrist functionality is useful in VRCHAT. Might compare XS Overlay vs OVR Toolkit

@@TahvoStudio both developers are really nice and fun fact, Xiexe is the one who works on XSOverlay. They're the same person who make the XiexeToon shader that's extremely popular. They kinda seem to help each other with each other's overlays (for example, Curtis implementing XSO's OSC functionally) though OVRT does seem to be getting faster and more frequent updates. Xiexe did give an update about why they haven't been updating their app for a while. I would recommend really going deep into both apps and possibly even seeing what the communities have to offer and such because they look similar but do have differences. ^ ^

ovr toolkit is definitely my go to for using my pc in game adjusting settings or watching videos. heck even if i connect my phone to be controlled by my pc i can then bring it into vr with me via ovr toolkit. adjustable screen size, curve, tilt, opacity, frame rate, touch screen capabilities,dockings to hand head or environment, its got everything youd hope holograms to be. more so i like it for the unobtrusive watch letting me know the time, date and status of battery life on controllers. its wonderful for on the fly audio adjustments in voice meter. there are alternatives, but for me, ovr tool kit takes the cake

The AprilTag Hip Locomotion driver for SteamVR. It allows you to change movement in VR from tracking your head to tracking your hip for a much more natural form of movement in VR. Doesn't work on all games, but it works in VRChat. Also there's Desktop Portal (paid app) and the free alternative Desktop++.

Hey, you seem to know quite a lot about modding in the SteamVR, I wanted to ask if you don't mind, would you know of any SteamVR mods that allow for playing while laying down? Kind of like what VRChat supports natively, "Horizon Adjust" I'm handicapped, and I've got a bad spine, I'm currently looking around to see if I can find a driver that supports what VRChat supports, do you know of any good recommendations?

Nice, aaand is there a way to improve the graphics, i use the Index with rtx 3070 and in one Video of VRchat i saw that Somebody had some really nice raytrazing, i dont know If it was because of the map but i really enjoyed it.

What about VRCX ? VRCX is VRChat addon directly, if setup correctly it shows you various notifications in VR and gives you a nice Wrist menu.

Ah- I was hoping there may be a couple ones for desktop users. ;w; I'm too poor to buy a VR headset atm, so I play using desktop.

VRchat furries have to be the most helpful ones

I am thinking in the future to buy a tower computer and a virtual reality headset to play Vrchat. I'm still not sure which PC and headset I should buy. Since I started in the fandom, I wanted to be a furry Vrchat youtuber but I still have a long way to go.... It must be a great experience but I think I won't achieve this goal. It is truely expensive and I do not know even what to do. Good video, I will take into account these tips and honestly you deserve more subs.

If you've already got a Quest or Quest 2, those can also be used as PCVR headsets. Oculus Link or Virtual Desktop being the free/paid options to pair them. While having a super beefy PC *helps*, for VRChat and some of the lighter VR games it's no strictly required either. You can get an old workstation PC that's quite new for surprisingly cheap. Those usually use low-profile graphics cards, so they're a little finicky to upgrade. But one of the nicer AMD R5 or R7 4GB low-profile cards can be found on the cheap and would handle *most* of VRC if you're modest with the graphical settings. And if you grab a full-tower Thinkcenter/Optiplex instead than you've got tons of headroom for like $300ish bucks, full width graphics cards being cheaper and more abundant too. PCVR-dedicated headsets *are* super expensive, but if you're handy enough, getting one that isn't working and replacing whatever broke is an option that cuts the cost in half. Also the older 64gb Quest 2's are super cheap now because that model doesn't even exist anymore. As a PCVR user, the limited storage doesn't (usually) affect me. For about the price that Valve charges for it's Index kit, you can put together something that'd handle a VRKET world without too much hassle. (edit: to note I'm talking PC & Headset together costing less)

@@DFX2KX would like to add to this. Nvdia alternatives to those graphics cards would be the gtx 1070 and up. I dont know about the 1650 1660 cards how well they perform. An older 2 3 or 4 gen intel i5 or i7 cpu will work for pc gaming on the cheap. Have atleast 16gb of ram and a ssd of atleast 240gb and a 1tb hdd

@@momfiethehunter504 Yep. the main reason I didn't mention the Nvidia offerings being that the LP formfactor cards can be *super* hard to find. but if you're building out of a full tower there are there and they can be had on the cheap. SSD is a good additional recommendation, fortunately those are $40ish bucks these days instead of many hundreds if it's a more modest size.

@@DFX2KX I think ssd prices are really dependent on your location, i can buy a good budget ssd the crucial bx500 240gb for about €29 including shipping. There are cheaper options but you risk your data and your pc by buying a cheap Chinese ssd

VRchat desperately needs a workshop

Ever since that dumb update I can't play VRC at all on my pc. I used mods for optimalization, my pc isn't too good so I had to use these, the same with mods for anti-crashing....

when is FSR mod coming back to increase fps for VRChat? :C

Since I saw no one giving this recommendation out. Desktop+ it's on steam It's like ovrtoolkit in which gives customization of desktop view and mouse control but also free and open source. Major issue with it is that it's learning curve is hard but I believe with good tutorials would go a long way.

@Tahvo imma test it when I get home and will let you know. Imus track at a lower and choppier fps, and its over wifi/bluetooth. so giving some extra virtual ticks between the real data would make it look soooo much better and way less janky if it does work 🙏🙏🙏

The biggest problem I still have is the complete inability to protect yourself from malicious players that have been totally unaffected by EAC. They won't even let you protect yourself with a VPN ffs.
