I saw somebody made a FULLY HAND-DRAWN ANIMATED first person gangster shooter, set in the 1920s, where all the gangsters are B&W cartoon animals/Mickeys… yeah, _THAT_ game actually looks sick (the horror one on the other hand 😣)

I can definitely see this as the extended ending of steamboat Willie were Pete realizes his mistakes and gives Mickey the title of captain as they sail into the sunset

Actually that would be a really great follow up to the original ending of Steamboat Willie since Mickey and Pete become good friends after realizing that Mickey was actually a good fellow. Also I would also have the Parrot get punishment for also being a tattletale. XD I like this thank you for this comment! :)

Also, as a followup, maybe Pete in this followup gets attacked by Pirates and that the Parrot was part of the crew, hence after Mickey rescues Pete, Minnie and the Barnyard animals from the pirates, Pete realizes Mickey is a hero and gives him this ending. :)

It's probably gonna happen oneday. But it's not gonma be as simple as this animatioms that just had 2 repeating animations and a bunch of particle effects. It's gonne considerably more effort amd talent. Just wait a couple of months

Steamboat Willie but Disney hired the man

The worst part of everybody and their grandma suddenly uploading Steamboat Willie at the same time is that GEMS like this is going somewhat unnoticed 1.8k views? Really??? This is the best example I've seen of why actually it was so important and meaningful for this short to enter the public domain, and so far it only has 1.8k views while some lazy reuploads are at nearly 100 k?

Steamboat Willie the Short itself is in public domain. Mickey Mouse as seen in the Short is not actually in the public domain. You could for example, re-cut up the short or use parts of the short or even upload whatever you like of the short seconds or the whole thing, but you can't make this mickey mouse go on crazy adventures.

This new sea of thieves update/DLC is looking mighty fine!

This feels like a proper “welcome (aboard!) to the public domain, steamboat willie!” now that the dust has started to settle on the jokes and “take that!” to Disney’s greedy corporate face.

Disney is really really stupid for not making a pure Micky Mouse movie. This looks great. You would think they would make a Mario Bros. style movie of Micky's first adventure and it would look something like this.

I love how everything is colored all except for mickey who is black and white even including the wheel just to ensure that yes, this is the public domain mickey.

Fun Fact: the whistle part is actually copyright protected since it’s in almost every Disney movie as their logo. And Mickey himself is still trademarked.

copyright isn't magically reset when you reuse something. If they implemented the same whistle in a novel way, they could copyright the use of that way if it met the modicum of creativity, but not keep the recording itself. If you mean trademark law, that can only be used in court to win if a reasonable consumer might be confused by the usage into thinking there is affiliation with Disney (although you don't need a winning or even good case to go to court if you have cash) What y'all missed is an actual infringement in the video, that being the white gloves which are a later addition to the characters, those might get the creator in actual hot water if this gets popular enough

I dont know but this gives me some unease feeling, just imagine going through at night sailing and you hear this honestly I wish this was a creepypasta

Being in the public domain is the best free advertising for Disney. George Lucas allowed Star Wars stuff to be done all the time! It doesn't make sense why they fought it for so long.

I think this song "Steamboat Bill" wasn't even in the public domain when Disney used it. I could be wrong but it was written in 1910 and in 1909 copyright lasted for 28 years
