Steam Speeder Locomotive Railroad Engine Boiler with Pump
Steam Speeder. It is powered by a 5 to 6 hp. steam engine. The boiler itself is 20" dia. x 40". It measures 80" high to the top of the stack. The pop-off valve is set at 100 lbs. The boiler has 22 - 1 1/2" diameter copper tubes rolled in; they are 24" long. The firebox is nearly 20" in dia. x 14" tall with plenty of room for large pieces of wood or coal. It also includes a hand pump as well as a mechanical pump that runs off the engine.
The steam engine has forward and reverse. The bore is 3 inches and a 3-inch stroke. The overall length of the engine alone is 32" (width 14" and height 28"). The flywheel is 10" in diameter. I estimate the hp at 5-7, depending on boiler pressure.

Me again. Love the wood as fuel rather than gas like a lot of the builders use. Best steam engine I’ve seen on here. Looks and sounds real efficient. You sir, are not only a craftsman, but an artist.

You have inadvertently become a Lord of the Steampunks.
In the UK, many of the previously axed lines are being brought back into use or bought by charities and opened up as steam railways. There are hundreds of locos being restored. The age of steam is not dead..at least not here 🇬🇧👍

Love it. I use to restore model T’s and old stationary farm engines with my son when he was 6 years old until he went off to college. We always meant to restore a steam engine but never had the opportunity. He is 39 now, and an electrical engineer with a PhD. Had chosen to work with high school kids and taught robotics and electronics before becoming a superintendent. I always believed his early start with mechanical fun gave him the foundation. Love your dedication and talent.
It would be really cool if you gave it some fun and classic steam locomotive features, such as lamps and a headlight! This such a charming machine, I love it! The whistle is beautiful too.

As a Mechanical Engineer, this is meat and potatos! I love it! Would love to ride on it. Also, you are not tied to gas or oil. It will probably work with charcoal too.
was waiting whole time 4 him to show us how fast it can travel,,
Awesome. Reminds me of the engine on the African Queen! Would love to see this on a boat!

I would wear an old-timey Victorian get up, and act like I invented the concept of rail travel, if I had this.
You forgot the crossing signal. Two longs a short and a long on the whistle...😁 Very nice !
Imagine travelling with this peacefully and suddenly a train appearing coming across u.

Have operated stationary and mobile steam engines over 12 years and have to say this is a great piece of engineering and machining. Great job, Keep up the steam work.
I steamed 600 p.s.i. 850℉ superheated "M"- type boilers in the Navy producing 60,00 shaft horsepower, I'd trade all that just for an hour with this sweetheart of a plant- well done! ☺

For it to be steampunk it has to be stupidly unpractical and devoid of any intelligent engineering.
Rossco, you are true steam craftsman, and I suspect an ole railroader at heart. Beautiful!
Cool doesn't even begin to describe this. It is beautiful. A work of art.
YOU GOT TO BE SOME KIND OF MECHANIC TO BUILD THAT; WELL DONE!
The intense subspace warp image stabilization is so trippy
That man is a mechanical genius!
A gentleman whom I knew in the 1970's built one of those with a Stanley Steamer engine and vertical boiler. He lived in Santa Cruz County, California.
What a fine machine you have made there! I really like all the details; the explanation of the features was interesting. Thank you for the video. No doubt whoever bought this from you is enjoying it.
Mr Rossco,You have done a magnificent job with this project! That is one of the coolest things I have seen that is steam powered.Your asking price seems VERY low considering the work you have put into it.There are miles of unused track around here I can imagine myself riding along.I appreciate your imagination and talent.Thank you for this posting!
Hey, that's SWEET! thanks for putting it on KZread.

What a delightful practical railcar! Steam locomotives are by far the most interesting trains to watch, mostly because they're so mechanical. It's neat to see the machinery at work as you chug along. :)
Took humanity centuries to invent this, and this guy can do it all by himself as a simple "project."
i am impressed that you built this from the ground up !!

2:09 This is a great piece of work. I love the I love the whole steam locomotive. This is I am very proud of this. It's a lot of engineering and work for this. And I am so proud to see that these are now for. Really useful think these steamworks motives should come back to life and keep running
that is a BEAUTIFUL whistle. Wow.

What's cool about this is that tripple expansion steam engine. All of this is the coolest thing I've seen all day.
EXTRAORdinary! Unbelievable! You are a GENIUS!!!!!!
What a fun and fantastic piece of homemade steam engineering!!!
Some virbration but absolutely awesome. This is how men created a steam locomotive. Keep doing it!
First real “critter” I’ve seen. Thanks!
What an AWSOME build you have done. Great work. Whistle sounds great. Boiler not too big. Forward/reverse on engine without stopping.👍
Meets oncoming freight, blows whistle. Freight train gives way.
Absolutely fantastic! I love it. Nice job!
Very well done, sir!
Straight forward and well done! Any Brit who sees this will eat his heart out.
Wow.... What a great video with clear chugging sound from the cute little engine. Sounds just like my first Model A Ford engine idling with a straight pipe and no muffler.
Awesome build, love the clutch system in the flywheel :D
Pride of workmanship! Nice Job!
Wonderful!...job done, compact, therefore lighter, and pleasing to the eye!
This is absolutely awesome
You've had some excellent training. Cheers!
In 2020 I am late to this party, but think your steam speeder is way cooool! I wanted to get a speeder in South Dakota couple of decades ago, wish I still could. A steam version is very nostalgic and fun! Hope you are still having fun with it. Loooove the whistle!
That peanut whistle is just awesome.
This is the coolest things i have never seen ... words terminated...
I love it in every possible aspect, you are so lucky you have somewhere to drive that!
Beautiful thing and a fantastic whistle!I'd love to hear it and expect a Hudson only to find your VB chugger rounding the bend!!
Incredible work. Thank you for sharing.

BRILLIANT! Amazing craftsmanship.
Very small version of a Shay, essentially. I love it!
Loved this! Awesome work man!
From a retired pipefitter in England, much respect. That looks like screwed barrel pipework, over there NPT threads. We used BSP, it was always a problem trying to find conversion fittings if we had to hook up to American equipment. And why did he build this? Simple, because he could. Superb stuff.
Oh now that looks like a fun way to spend the afternoon. Years ago as a much younger fella we used to do that and called it tracking, but we did it with automobiles.
I love the sound and the steam. Keep up the great work😃
Absolutely amazing. The amount of power it has is amazing also. Beautiful project and you certainly can be very proud of it. Thanks for sharing the video.
wow...the whistle is a real beauty...

Fantastic job, very nice.
Awsome!!!!!! I need to build one of these!!!!! Ive seen speeders come through Tamaqua, Pa., they were gas or deisel though, i love your steam powered unit(especialy the whistle)! Simpllicity and practical...im thinking of running steam to generate electricity for my house. Gasoline is getting WAY too expensive lately, plus i live in the Anthracite Coal Region(free coal!!!)
