On Sunday the 25th of February, Steam Incorporated ran their mostly annual "River City Express", behind Da 1410 and Ja 1271.
Originally Ja 1271 was meant to lead the excursion on the northbound run, but instead Da 1410 was on for the whole trip with 1271 in light steam.
We follow the train to Whanganui where the locos are turned before we chase the train back down to Wellington in golden evening light.
