Stay or Leave: Kharnak Nomads Forced to Make a Decision | SLICE
This could be Tundrup’s last migration, the end of his nomadic life on the high plateaux of the Himalayas. When the walkers arrive, Tundrup and his family will have to decide: whether to sell their herd, abandon their lands and leave for the city as so many others have done before them, or to stay in Kharnak.
Director Marianne Chaud lived for many months amongst these men and women, using her camera to capture their words and gestures to create unusually intimate portraits for the viewer.

Wonderful documentary. The terrain, people, and culture is interesting. Most documentaries on old a pristine cultures show a culture that is one disaster away from being materially impacted in a negative way. There has to be an equilibrium between the desires of the people and what nature provides, and that balance might not be auspicious. Some of the people say stuff like the best time in their lives are in the mountains building a fire, but knowing that way of life diminishes over time. However, some people and the children want an urban life. Keep up the good work Slice. I try to watch one slice documentary every night, and I am remiss for not commenting on your exquisite work. :)
I hope they dont lose thier life and culture. Money and material things is no comparison. They are living a simple loving life. Supportive of each other. Its sad that town is enticing them away...love these docos thank you 😊
Thank you for bringing a pert of the world to the city and it’s sad for them to have to move from home!! Some of the younger generation want to live a more modern lifestyle but that’s the way life is, life is changing for many that can’t hold on to old traditions ways of living..nothing but hope and prosperity for them in there new adventures and for those who stayed 🙏❤️🙏
