You could argue that any defender would have done the exact same thing. He tried to stop the cross and it went in as a result. I don't know why you guys are making it sound like others wouldn't make the same attempt as well. Ronaldo have been wasteful for the last couple of matches.

This was actually really insightful look into the psychology around the club and the fans. It was supposed to be an exercise in being a bit nasty and brutal, to hold the current squad up to the Keane standard, to the Man U who won trebles. Conclusion: nice people, heart in the right place, but in complete denial about what needs to happen.

I really would advise you not to let recency bias not to blind you. It is true that Maguire has been the worst player this season but let it not take away from his past seasons where he's been okay. I'd give him time and maybe he can step up ( Like Fred has )

They can if they play a back 5. Maguire is not a versatile defender can only play back 5 when others pick up his slack and the other 4 all have to be good. Lindelof isn’t any better tbf if you watch him closely he’s shambolic as well. Good on the ball but defensively not good enough

@Esteban Samra Rashford is not a regular, McT is a regular for the time being. When united will buy a new cdm, McT will go as a backup. And he is a decent enough backup. If McT is sold, who will be the backup? Are you suggesting united buy 2 cdms in the same window when they have struggled to land even 1 in the past 4 windows? This is the non practical point I was talking about.

Sure, keep your defense, they’ll come in handy as bench options. Shaw and Wan-Bissaka have 1 or 2 more seasons to show what they’re really about. Dalot can be a great player. Lindelof seems like a good backup option. Maguire should just leave, unless he’s cool with being a backup.

As a Man City fan please keep Maguire, he is a gift that keeps on giving!

Williams at 21 is a definite stay. Is an academy product, stepped in very well in 2019-20. Used the wrong way in 2020-21 (should have gone on loan) and has had a great loan move to Norwich, worked his way into a first choice, player of the month and probably one of top 2 or 3 players ona premier league club. Should get another chance under a new manager at United, especially if you are keeping Donny VanDeBeek.

Depends. How much money do I have to replace? How many new players can I bring in? With no limits, I'd only keep a few players and sell most of the squad.

The fact Maguire is still a regular starter is bad in itself but the fact he is still captain is actually unbelievable & shows how much of a circus the glazers & the board have made the club. Maguire is the worst captain the club has ever had, and that’s not an over exaggeration

Really good video, good debate. As a complete neutral I'm baffled. Depends what level united want to be at. When I was growing up united was the best at everything. If I look at city, Liverpool and Chelsea, united maybe have three or four players at best who would get in their squads as squad players, not starters. If united want to get back they need a massive clear out

Football fans are fickle and it shows with maguire. He was great last season, and the main reason he’s performing so poorly is because his workload is just so high due to the lack of defensive coverage, and people keep clowning him for it which will ruin his confidence. Tifo made a good vid on it.

I know a lot of people don’t want Maguire to stay over recent performances. It has been terrible - but keeping him would be the smart decision. Last season he was solid for us, he shouldn’t captain - he can be our backup center half. Hope he regains form next season under a new manager. And not being a captain improves his performances

He barely tries to take anyone on and when he does it’s so half hearted that defenders don’t even have to try to tackle him!!! His positioning is rubbish as well. This season he has been awful and I think he needs to go.

What level do you need all the players to be? You can’t have an elite squad, McT easily a squad player so this issue about needing all top player is wrong. Origi isn’t the very best but he’s always in there. Klopp doesn’t need all-stars. If you don’t want Rashford, then who will you want to sign for you club? You can’t even keep your academy products, one bad season and you want them out. Bernardo Silva was nearly sold, look at him now

@@myalfie Fergie’s team had Anderson, Cleverly, Gibson, Fabio, Lindegard, Butner, etc. even strugglers like Kagawa and Zaha. it’s not hard to figure out that you don’t need a squad full of all-stars. Half of these guys here now will still make a Fergie team. All you need is a manager who knows how to use them right. Most aren’t bad players, they are just not taking responsibility and other are massively under-coached. Don’t write players off after one bad season, Bernardo Silva was nearly sold after last season’s terrible performance, now look at him. Most of these players we paid big for were very good at their previous clubs. In fact, we have made all players we signed since Fergie retired look terrible. Even Ronaldo and Sancho are struggling. Are you saying z Sancho won’t get into a Fergie team? Or Matic? Or Pogba? We lose believe in players too easily, we are meant to be supporters not fans.

Dave wants repeat the past 4 years for United. Maguire, mctominay, Rashford, etc… they haven’t been good enough for 2 years but let’s just keep praying it works

For me personally, the rebuild phase for Man Utd needs to start when Erik Ten Hag takes over. It's hard on the whole team yes, but you can't just lug around a team of lifeless personnel around and play games without the hunger to win. Just like life, all good things must come full circle and come to an end and in football, this doesn't mean the end. This is only the beginning of a new era. I sincerely hope Man Utd will rise up from the ashes like a phoenix and fight for more titles again.

Scoring goals is only one part of many in football. When you have someone who only does one thing, he makes the rest of the team orse, which is the problem with Ronaldo. Defenders need to be able to transition the game and pick attacking passes. Attackers need to chase and win the ball back once it's been lost. Utd have a lot of players who only defend, or only attack, and then often, do neither well.

People don’t realize that Rashford has never been good enough, but the love from media and fans have always covered that up by making excuses for him, he needs to take some responsibility too. Again, how Maguire and Luke Shaw are in the “stay” category while Pogba and Ronaldo are in “Go” category baffles me, this guy is confused.

Rashford at current level was seen as a great player when he was a teenager. But everyone expected him to develop into a better player back then. Fast forward like 8 years and he's still pretty much the same player if not slightly slower than he was, less hungrier (no pun intended)

When are Man Utd fans going to admit that signing Maguire was a mistake, he is not a top level defender, not saying they should get rid but he is an expensive squad player, the fact that he is captain reflects badly on the team, they need a new leader in the dressing room

I'm typing this as we go in terms of where I might disagree . First of all, Deano has to stay. De Gea doesn't have many years left and we can't be looking back in the market at that popint. With Phil, I don't mind giving him a chance. But really depends on his wages. With Harry Maguire, he has to go. His price tag is weighing too heavy on him. It's best for both the club and him that he goes. I think Rory/Dave have got it the wrong way around with Dalot and AWB. AWB is a much better player and everytime I watch Dalot I am reminded of how mediocre of a club United are right now. He is not spectacular in attack, and his defending is attrocious. With AWB, you know you at least get a good defender. He led the league for blocks/tackles for couple of seasons in a row. Needs some improvement in his positioning a little but I think that's coachable. With TElles, I'm on the fence. He's great going forward. He's just absolutely terrible at defending. He has the heart just not a good defender with his reading of the game. I'd even be willing to let Telles go and keep Brandon instead. In midfield, Pogba has to stay. What a generational talent. I know this shouldn't discuss transfers in. But a great DM is all we need to unlock him (see the French national team or even his partnership with Pogba during Project Restart as the perfect example of that. McT is a 50/50 for me but I'd keep him for depth and also that intensity during big games like Fletch used to be in our peak teams. For Anthony, I'm biased but he's one of our most talented No 9's. I think he works well in a fluid system as opposed to being a classic 9. So I'd actually keep him. Absolutely with Dave here on Rash. Even last season, he was amazing until his injuries caught up towards the end. Had a bad Euros because of it. Should never have went as he should have just done the surgery before the Euros. The penalty miss in the final has also obviously hurt it. He's just struggling to recover from both of those. But I think he'll come good again soon. And absolutely on point with CR7/Cavani. Exactly the reason why Anthony should stay too haha.

Players like McTominay and Shaw to stay? They’re literally 2 of the biggest reasons United have been massively underachieving since Mourinho left.

as a united fan , I disagree with dave on maguire and also rashford. maguire was fantastic for leicester city because of the style of play and the team with which he played. but if united want to be anywhere near the likes of man city, liverpool,chelsea then he is surely has to go . also rashford has done outstanding work for the community and children, but coming after from the injury , he hasn't been the same rashford. so I think probably , if united want to keep him and he is not at his previous level , then the new manager has to make a tough call.

I think giving rashford the benefit of the doubt for this season is fine unless he wants to go. Not a United fan either, rashfords a great player having a poor season and is disillusioned with the club right now. If there’s a chance to get him back to where he should be, he should stay.

People don’t see the runs rashford makes every game that don’t get seen. He makes runs over and over and no one takes the pass on. Get the midfield right and he’ll return to his best. Lindelof seems to be the only player that understands the runs Marcus makes.

When it comes to Rashford it depends on the style and strategy of your game. Does he fit Rangnicks's 2nd C for Utd? Is ETH going to play a fast real counterattcking team? Or something else. It seems really simple.

All this time I've been blaming Glazers and then the board and then the managers and recently the players for our shortcomings. But this video helped me realize for the first time that us fans are the biggest problem at this club😔. After I saw that Rory(a chelsea fan) can clearly see these subpar players like Mcguire, AWB, tRashFraud, shaw, McFred are not upto the standards but these so called united fans couldn't see is the reason we're where we are. Anyone who thinks that tRashFraud, Mcguire, McFred and Co. are good enough and should stay at utd while thinking players like bailey and pogba should leave either doesn't watch man utd or doesn't understand football as a sport. This video really opened my eyes and hurt deep in my heart at the same time. I've lost all hope now😔

I see where your coming from, i'm no Man United fan by any stretch of the imagination but Bailey his Man United career has not worked out, just can not keep him fit, constantly injured. As for Pogba, well its clear you guys need a transition period again, constantly going backwards and forwards, then it gets worse than before and your back to square 1 scratching your heads, so i personally think that Pogba is not the player Man United need just now, his talent is clear to see, he comfortably gets into the best teams in Europe and makes them better but that is not where Man United are at this moment in time. If i was in charge at Man United i would look at how Arsenal are doing things, bringing the young talent through, add some quality into the team in the transfer windows, players like Son from Spurs, Neves from Wolves, Rice from West Ham.

My only comment is that while McFred is horrible as a combination, they prob can do much better individually when supported by a proper CDM instead of having to cover for their Championship level captain.

Absolutely SMACK BANG ON! Only thing I could change slightly is that Rashford is normally non existent 4 about 86-89mins of the match and then MAYBE pull out a goal or assist from a counter attack. Barring that he is pretty much riding the wave of the team & isnt bothered to work hard or track his man back and there4 we r playing with 10men for the most part
