Throughout my 40+ year career in IT I've had occasion to do what you speak of. When I was a manager, people on my team told me that they couldn't understand how I would become more calm during serious situations. The more serious the issue was the calmer I became. I see that I do purposely remain calm and it is a natural response for me. I did not think about remaining calm. I focused on resolving the issue and that kept me calm.

No its not about being rich his describing perfectly the key trait of a psycopath. How do you think they got mega rich in the first place in that cut throat world. Most are psychopaths its crucial in getting that far to have that type of personality. Not all but most. If not psychopathic they are at least highly narcissistic in the main.

That's exactly what my dad told me and what I learned working at my dad's business ( as a grocery store and a motel manager currently) since the age of 18 (22 now). You let the other guy get angry but you stay calm. Either he collects himself because he realizes that he is behaving in an unhinged manner or he just leaves because he couldn't trigger an aggressive response from you. Many times I would get put into stressful situations, I'd say once a month it was really dangerous and I was very nervous, I'd get threatened because of how upset someone got for no good reason, but because of me staying calm and being aware that there are cameras inside and in the parking lot so I could report the guy to the police and sue him if he wasn't a broke lowlife if he were to attack me unprovoked I never got into a physical altercation with anybody and I always stood up for other coworkers (all of whom are women in their mid 20s who always get picked on by men).

This is taught in Emotional Intelligence seminars. Your frontal cortex shuts down when upset or angry. I teach the children in my life to use whatever works for their personality to stay centered rather than let things spin them out of control. You see and hear more. You're able to focus on the issue at hand and be rational.

I have purchased all of Brian Tracy's books and tapes for 35 years. Almost all he says is "correct". BUT ... I noticed a pattern. His teachings are notoriously hard to act on. At least 98% of all self-help students never receive any lasting benefit. The advice of success gurus is worse than worthless. Why? Because you try it, then fail. Then you beat up on yourself. Thus further damaging your already bruised self-esteem. It's a "death spiral" of try -> fail -> try -> fail. So, I stopped listening to him and others. Instead, I went looking for WHY this helplessness occurs. It took me 20 years to un-ravel the Gordian Knot. But, I finally found the answer. The answer is hiding in Napoleon Hill's book "Think and Grow Rich". In the form of "The TWO HALVES of the Carnegie Secret". This is briefly mentioned early on, in the introduction. But Hill never comes right out and reveals exactly, precisely what the TWO HALVES are. He says that would rob you of the exercise of digging it out, on your own. I amassed a private "success" library of 4,800 books and tape courses. It occupied 295 running feet of shelf space in my house. Of all those authors, NOT A SINGLE ONE ever reveals or even mentions the TWO HALVES. I accuse them of NOT KNOWING IT. They short cut down to One. To sell more of their tripe to lazy, expedient, but desperate self-help seekers. I consider that immoral. In an ad on the web, Tony Robbins says the self-help / coaching industry is now raking in a Billion Dollars every day. I say, Not a Single one of those authors / gurus knows the full and right answer. Now, I will close my diatribe by quoting Richard Basehart / Ishmael in the closing scene of the movie "Moby Dick" ... "I, alone, have escaped ... to tell thee."

Now he is remembered as a icon of the martial arts and a superstar actor that created how a fight scene should be filmed and choreographed!!! Every action movie since Bruce Lee's movies have used his breakthrough ideology! 👏👏👏

I developed this trait after quite a few very traumatic events in my lifetime. Within the last 5 or so years I began becoming oddly calm during times of crisis (not purposely, it just naturally happened). It’s almost chilling the way I am able to slow down my actions/turn off my extreme emotions/and focus, plan, strategize. It has helped me very much and I’m thankful that this is how I react now. I made a lot of mistakes in my teens/early 20s during traumatic events that negatively effected the outcome. Now, it seems, that I’m much better at getting to have some say-so in the way i deal with and recover from trauma.

Working in medicine in critical care; that was the trick. When things went into crisis mode, you grew “calmer”……….almost as tho you took 1 extra second to give everything concentrated, focused effort. Consciously giving each movement its place in priority sequence before moving on to the next. Methodical. Focused. Intentional. All outside distractions silenced.

Be still. It's all about vibrations. We are literally energy in motion. When your vibration is low, feelings of sadness, depression, and lethargy dwell upon you. Like walking around with a grey raining cloud. You walk around more slowly with your head down, your voice is low and weak right? Think of Eeyore. People that are calm, and relaxed are at normal/avarage vibrations. People vibrating at higher frequency are louder, excited, thrilled, almost arrogant, they talk fast and have pep in their step when they walk. Look up Laws of Vibrations and how they relate to colors. Namaste 💜
