In 1946 election for the Congress presidency, Patel stepped down in favour of Nehru at the request of Gandhi. The election's importance stemmed from the fact that the elected President would lead free India's first Government. Gandhi asked all 16 states representatives and Congress to elect the right person and Sardar Patel's name was proposed by 13 states representatives out of 16, but Patel respected Gandhi's request to not be the first prime minister. As the first Home Minister, Patel played a key role in integration of many princely states into the Indian federation.

जब देश की 25 % यानी 33 करोड़ लोग दिन के 50 रुपये भी नही कमा पा रहे है(तेंदुलकर और रंगराजन समिति के लगभग आंकड़े ) ऐसे में भी हम वे लोग जो इन 25% के टैक्स,पसीने से खुद को अलग रखके 100% राष्ट्र एकता का ऐसा सपना देख रहें है ,एक गरीब मानसिकता के शिकार हैं। जहां समर्पण होता है वहीं लक्ष्य प्राप्त किये जाते है।ये उस बापू की ज़मीन पर तो कभी शोभा नही देता जिन्होंने अपने विलासिता के कपड़े भी नेक मकसद से आजीवन नही पहने।लेकिन बात वही ह न सब कंगूरा बनना चाहते हैं लाखों ईंटों का भार लेने वाली नींव की ईंट नही।

सर, यह statue बहुत बहुत ...जरूरी है । क्योंकि - आज 70 साल बाद भी किसी से पूछो कि भारत को किसने एकजुट किया, कैसे किया, किन conditions मे एकजुट किया, तो हमारे गांव को तो छोडो, city वाले अधिकांश लोगों को भी नही पता है इस बारे मे। यह बात मैने personally feel की है, उस time पर खूब दुःख हुआ था सर😢😢। हमें हमारे history, freedom fighters के बारे मे ही नहीं पता, जबकि अन्य देशों के लोगो को अपनी history, अपने freedom fighters के बारे मे अच्छी तरह से पता है। दिल से इज्जत करते है foreign मे, पर यहाँ इसे पत्थर का टुकड़ा, पैसों की बरबादी इत्यादि इत्यादि मानते है। हमारी textbooks मे इन महापुरुषों को 4-5 पन्नों मे सिमटा दिया गया है। आज की generation को यही लगता है कि भारत हमें ऐसे ही एकता की स्थिति मे मिला था, पर उन्हे क्या पता कितने प्रयत्नों से यह देश बना है। अंत मे यही कहुँगा सर, आखिर हमारी भी कोई जिम्मेदारी बनती है कि उन्होने पूरे भारतीय परिवार को भारत दिया अब हमारी बारी है हम क्या-क्या देते है।🙏🙏🙏🙏 जय हिंद।

A sense of patriotism is expected to evolve within citizens. Such monuments have always got impact on our psychology. The ideals, principles and philosophy of Sri Sardar Bhai Patel would ever be cherished 3. Image of the Bismarck of India would recite the glory of India's political unity and its genesis in the world forum. 4. Tourism would get a boost. Hence would be helpful in economic growth of the region and the residents. 5. Would encourage the political class to imitate the idea and would create such attractions in different parts of India while boosting economic growth Against: 1. The capital could have been utilized in some other social welfare project. In a country where one-fifth of children are malnourished, expenditure in such monuments do not do justice to the citizens. 2. The underdeveloped states of India could have been choosen as the venue of the statue. Western India is already relatively more developed and Eastern and NE India could have been benefited more by tourism and economic activities thus providing an egalatarian Indian economy 3. Well I don't agree with the point no 3 in against points..... We can't make the statue of all the brilliant leader and mighty Kings all together...but that doesn't mean that we don't even construct one... Choosing one legend doesn't defame the other ones.

There should be NO DEBATE about building a statue of Unity for Sardar Vallabhai Patel. No !!! Absolutely No!! I am from South India and proud of Sardar Patel for his contribution to unifying India. He stands TALL above Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and all others. Can you imagine there were about 700 princely states who were given freedom by British to join India, or Pakistan or remain as an Independent country? Nehru was busy with his lust and craving for Edwina Mountbatten beauty while it became apparent that many kings of princely states planning to declare themselves as " Independent Country" , It was Sardar Patel who took charge and negotiated with Princely states to join Union of India, and when some of them refused, he used the police force to make them surrender and join India. Those of you who challenge the Sardar's statue construction are welcome to immigrate to Pakistan. Thank you.

Statue of unity is a good project by GOI. Unity is the core value of COI. The statue will always remind people about the struggle of this great leader which led to the unification of India. Moreover as it is the tallest statue across the world, it will become a famous tourist sport. So it can help in the generation of revenue. It will also provide many jobs to local people. Due to this project the connectivity to this area is improved. So it has many benifits.

Is it not possible for America to build bigger statute than India by tax money..? 3000/- cr rs is not big amount for America but they are not stupid to waste there 💰 on making big statue... It's real looks like seen of bahuballi. I.e nehru's personality become too short under the statue of unity " sadar vallabhabhai Patel" . No doubt is becoming source of income for the govt. And for the people living there. But govt. Also have to take care of our ancient monuments and generate jobs in also different parts of country.

It was a great tribute to Sardar Patel... But from view of our PM that's clear strategy... PM always focus to develope a tourism place... Because it helps to develope a whole region, give employment to many people and Connectivity become faster and many more... So this statue is most important in both ways ✌️✌️

I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families of labor who built it, it fed the people from factories who make the steel, it fed the people from factories who make the cement, it fed the architects, it fed the engineers, It will feed the restaurants /dhabas mushrooming nearby, it will feed the hotels where tourist will reside, it will feed the guide and most important it will feed the deprived Indian souls to be an agent of Unity for a nation vulnerable from thousands of self-interest groups. That is the difference between capitalism and welfare mentality. When you buy something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills. नाम अगर टीपू सुल्तान होता तो मूर्ति की ऊँचाई बढ़ाने के लिए लोग चंदा दे रहे होते। लेकिन क्या कीजिएगा नाम है शिवाजी जिसने मुग़लों के अंदर बाँस डालने का काम किया था। नाम है पटेल का जो नेहरू से कई गुणा क़द्दावर नेता थे। दर्द तो होगा ही कुछ लोगों को। और दर्द होगा तो ग़रीब याद आएँगे। क्योंकि ग़रीब बस अलग-अलग समय पर याद ही आने के लिए हैं। एक बात और, स्टैच्यू ऑफ़ लिबर्टी जब बनी थी तो उसका पूरा ख़र्च, अभी के समय के हिसाब से, लगभग 1.6 बिलियन डॉलर होता। ऐफिल टावर अगर आज बनाया जाता तो उसका ख़र्च भी लगभग 1.5 बिलियन डॉलर आता। और हाँ, उस समय फ्राँस और अमेरिका में लोगों की हालत के बारे में भी पढ़ लीजिएगा। हर सरकारी डिपार्टमेंट, मंत्रालय और मंत्रियों द्वारा हर अख़बार में इंदिरा, राजीव, और नेहरू के जन्म और मरण की, हर साल दो बार, याद दिलाते विज्ञापणों का खर्चा याद है? याद है एक अख़बार के 32 में से सोलह पन्ने पूरे या आधे इनके चेहरों से भरे होते थे? क्या सरदार या शिवाजी की मूर्ति कहीं से ख़रीदकर लाई गई और बना दी गई? या इसको कारीगरों ने बनाया, लोहे को कहीं से लाया गया, किसी ने उसे पिघलाया, किसी ने आकार दिया, किसी ने लगातार मज़दूरी की और तब जाकर वो वहाँ खड़ा हुआ। लेकिन तुम चिरकुटों को मतलब इससे है कि 'इसके बदले' और 'इतने में तो' से। तुम्हें तो वो फ़र्ज़ी तस्वीरें शेयर करने से मतलब है जिसमें मरते हुए बच्चे के पीछे इंतज़ार करते गिद्ध के स्टायल में एक माँ और उसके भूखे बच्चे चावल-दाल खा रहे हैं, पीछे पटेल की मूर्ति खड़ी है। तुम्हें ये जानने में बिलकुल रूचि नहीं होगी कि इस मूर्ति और पार्क के कारण कितने 'वंचितों' को रोजगार मिलेगा। क्योंकि वो तुम्हारे अजेंडे को सूट नहीं करता। इसको कहते हैं 'कन्विनिएंटली हाइडिंग द ट्रूथ'। पटेल का इस देश के एकीकरण में गाँधी से ज़्याद नहीं, तो कम योगदान भी नहीं था। जहाँ गाँधीजी पाकिस्तान को आर्थिक सहायता दिलवाने के लिए अनशन पर बैठे थे, वहीं पटेल हैदराबाद के निज़ामों की निज़ामत निकाल रहे थे। लेकिन सरकारों ने कभी भी अपनी ही पार्टी के इस क़द्दावर नेता को आगे नहीं आने दिया। उसके नाम 586 रियासतों के एकीकरण की एक लाइन इतिहास में दर्ज करा दी गई और फिर 'लौहपुरुष' कहकर भुला दिया गया क्योंकि नेहरू के, इंदिरा के, राजीव के आइकॉनिफिकेशन के लिए गाँधी और पटेल का नीचे जाना ज़रूरी था। लेकिन गाँधी को नीचे करना असंभव था, तो उनके नाम पर सड़कें, स्टेडियम और 'राष्ट्रपिता' लिखने के बाद, बाकी की हर सड़क, स्टेडियम, एयरपोर्ट, स्कूल, कॉलेज, हॉस्टल, बस अड्डे नेहरू, इंदिरा, राजीव और राहुल तक के नाम हो गए। जिनकों ग़रीबों की इस तरह की चिंता है, उन्हें तो फिर इतिहास पढ़ना ही नहीं चाहिए। क्योंकि यही लोग मंगलयान भेजने पर भी गरीबी का मुद्दा ले आते हैं, और यही लोग स्वच्छता अभियान और टॉयलेट बनवाने की योजनाओं पर हँस लेते हैं। आप हँसते रहिए, और लैम्बॉर्गिनी वालों को कोसिए कि इस कार के बदले तो कितने हजार गरीब खा लेते। ग़रीबों के नाम लाखों करोड़ों रुपए की योजनाएँ हैं। उनको इस सरकार ने नकारा नहीं है। आयुष्मान भारत, स्वच्छता अभियान, फ़ूड सिक्योरिटी, मनरेगा, उज्जवला, विद्युतीकरण आदि तमाम योजनाएँ सिर्फ और सिर्फ ग़रीबों और वंचितों के लिए ही है। बाकी की सारी योजनाओं में भी वो हैं, लेकिन अधिकतर के केन्द्र में वही हैं। हर तरह की सब्सिडी, छूट, और योजनाएँ उनके लिए हैं। इसलिए बाकी के कामों पर, जो समाज और राष्ट्र की जागृति के लिए, संस्कृति के लिए आवश्यक हैं, वो भी होती रहें तो बेहतर है। वरना जिसने हमें ग़ुलाम बनाया, जिसने हमारी संस्कृति नष्ट की उनके ख़ानदानों के हर सुल्तान के नाम पर दसवीं कक्षा में चैप्टर गढ़े गए हैं। और जो आधुनिक भारत की शान हैं, धरोहर हैं, उनके नाम पर पैराग्राफ़ भर है। यही कारण है कि ऐसी मूर्तियाँ बहुत ज़रूरी हैं। भुलाए गए हर नायक और नायिकाओं की मूर्तियाँ, उनके नाम पर इतिहास के पन्ने और उनके योगदान की गाथाएँ हर भारतीय को जाननी चाहिए। न कि उनकी जिन्होंने यहाँ रहकर यहाँ की लड़कियों का बलात्कार किया, मंदिरों को बर्बाद किया, पुस्तकालयों में आग लगाए, और गाँवों में सामूहिक नरसंहार किए। इन्हें भुलाना नहीं है, इनकी करतूतों को याद रखते हुए, सही नायकों की गाथा याद करनी है और गौरवान्वित होना है। अपने छोटे दिमाग़ों से उपजने वाली छोटी और कुतर्की सोच को उसी दिमाग में बंद रखिए, बहुत फायदा होगा। #Statue_Sardar_Patel

Yes, definitely it is good that something which attracts world tourists is made in India. It should be given the honour of 8th wonder of the world. The world will see then there are countries other than America,China,Japan.....which are the best emerging country as far as development is concerned.
