I never saw a Video of him. But it‘s Actually right how he starts mixing. If you have to Mix Colors You always start with bright colors. If you just want a little bit of color like he had in de Video you start with a bright color and ad small amounts of the darker color (his green has big amounts of blue) because if you start with the dark color you need insane amounts ob bright colors to get the result you want if you took too much of it, and at the end you have like 2kg of colors. Thats absolutely uninteresting im sorry xD have a nice day

I guess it makes sense, the statue of liberty has a lot of copper, which rusts/oxidizes into that green color. Starting with a red gives you the correct undertones of the copper.

This is really heckin impressive. The human eye can differentiate between *millions* of different colours and shades and the fact that he got the right one (or at least an indistinguishably similar shade) first try is absolutely phenomenal.

I think you'd need the fresh colour of a painting as reference to faithfully restore it. Paint colour fade over time.

Why are all the non artists saying this is a hard achieved skill that people are lying about actually being very simple? People just keep repeating "well you try it" I know many artist including myself can't afford a wide array of colors, so we buy the primarys and mix them ourselves. It's very common and simple. I feel like many artists have a natural knack for color mixing and could easily replicate this.

Matching the colour exactly means extensive knowledge of colour theory and tons of practice. I'm not an artist yet exactly, I just started trying last year, and I know for a fact that there is no way I would be able to do this anytime soon. I work with 5 tubes of paint fyi, the primary colours, black, and white

@@atomatopia1 idk working with acrylics I have to color match a lot of paintings between layers/sittings. It can be tedious and time consuming, I guess just don't understand it as the core focus, it doesn't quite do it for me as an entaining form of art to watch, and I do love watching artists work.

Fun fact: the statue of liberty was originally copper, so it was actually orange, but because of oxidization, it turned green

i’m not an expert or anything but i read a comment on one of his other videos, apparently he needs to start with a color almost opposite to the one he was so that way it gets nice and saturated and it doesn’t look muted from all the different colors being mixed
