Yes! I agree with your result. "And" is the intersection of two events. The intersection of "35 to 44" and "more likely" is 372. Therefore 372 / 2287 = 16.27%.

thanks for all the videos! really helpful!! Just one question, this one does not looks like very related with previous videos(hypothesis testing), some kind of gap sitting in between? are we missing something

Notice how the "given" becomes the new denominator of the answer? In part (a) of the problem it stated ... "given the individual is more likely to buy a product..." This means that the total of "more likely" (which is 1405) becomes the denominator of the answer. If the given was "between 35 to 44" then the denominator's value would be 582.

    Show this to your instructor and see if he/she agrees: Let's call event A "35 - 44", and event B "more likely". P(A) = 582/2287 P(B) = 1405/2287 P(A or B) = 582/2287 + 1405/2287 - 372/2287 This means that 372/2287 is the intersection of A "and" B. P(A | B) = 372/1405 P(B | A) = 372/582 The last two are conditional probabilities. Notice the numerators (372) are the same? Because that's where the two events overlap each other. Therefore 372/2287 is the "intersection" (also called the "and").
